Whether you’re a fan of manga or anime, you would have heard of One Piece at least once in your life — I mean, it is one of the most popular manga-anime franchises of all time. Die-hard fans of the cult favourite anime series will be excited to know that there is an exhibit in Genting Highlands, Malaysia, dedicated to all things One Piece, taking place from now until 8 May 2023

Located at Pavilion Hall in SkyAvenue Resorts World Genting, “The Great Era of Piracy” exhibition will house 21 thematic zones which brings to light some of the most iconic scenes from Monkey D. Luffy’s adventures. You might want to keep some tissues handy as some of these scenes might trigger memories of when you were a kid watching the show on TV.

There will also be life-size FRP sculptures with mirrored installations and bright lights that add to this out-of-the-world experience. Some of the life-size sculptures on display include the Pirate King himself, Gol D. Roger in his infamous execution, and Luffy’s battle against Charlotte Katakuri during the Whole Cake Island arc. There are also plenty of photo spots around so make sure you get your camera (and your poses) ready.

As you meander through the exhibit, you can’t help but feel as though you are part of the manga and the characters are fighting right in front of your eyes. The attention to detail here is through the roof as these guys look exactly as they do in the manga and anime.

To make your experience even more interactive, there is an augmented reality game where you can collect points and win exclusive prizes. All you gotta do is to download the One Piece Great Era of Piracy app and the friendly staff on-site will guide you through the AR game. There are also mini carnival games for you to score more One Piece points.

You’ll take about 45mins to 90mins to explore the entire exhibit — although it might take longer if you plan on taking plenty of photos. Once you’re done exploring the exhibit and taking all your pics, don’t forget to create your personal “wanted” poster

No visit to the exhibit is complete without checking out the merch section. You can expect some cool graphic tees and tote bags, as well as other cute items like popcorn buckets, plush toys, and even limited edition figurines of your fave characters. If you spend over S$105 (RM350), you can redeem an exclusive goodie bag with a special mystery prize that awaits you.

There’s plenty of exciting things to do in Genting Highlands, from glamping under the stars to going for a relaxing massage and even taking a leisure hike. So, if you’re planning a short trip over, you should definitely add this exhibition to your itinerary. Tickets to the exhibition cost S$33.05 for adults and S$15.05 for children. Malaysian adults can get the tickets for S$27.05

Loved watching One Piece growing up? This exhibit will make you fall in love with the popular series all over again.
