Rainforest Treehouse Cafe, as its name suggests, is tucked away in the rainforests of Kulai, in a treehouse upon Gunung Pulai. This cafe is part of a tiny community, where there are residential areas for staff and visitors, a farm, a library and even a school — all located within treehouses.

You can spot friendly cats, chickens, calves and many other animals roaming around the vicinity, which will definitely boost your serotonin levels as you can pet them as you like.

Head up the two-storey treehouse cafe once you’ve gotten your fix of cute animals, and order a cup of pour-over coffee from the barista. You should definitely get their signature Jackfruit Coffee (from S$4.67, RM16), which is a unique blend of rich, earthy undertones and the subtle sweetness of jackfruit.

Their menu includes breakfast and lunch options, and they are all favourites curated by the resident chef. Highlights include their Mushroom Soup with Garlic Toast (S$6.13, RM21), Basil Pesto Pasta with Smoked Duck (S$7.01, RM24), and Truffle Creamy Gnocchi (S$8.18, RM28)

There’s plenty of desserts to choose from as well, like the popular Dirty Durian Roll Cake (S$5.55, RM19)  or the Cempedak Cheesecake (S$4.96, RM17), and a wide selection of drinks from cold brews to flower teas and sparkling drinks

You can ask what the dessert of the day is for a pleasant surprise too!

They insist on all-natural, eco-friendly methods of living, so you can expect all their baked goods to be wood-fired, and if you happen to be there on a Wednesday or Friday, you can even get to try out their special earth oven bread and banana cake! They also have firewood roasted chicken that is only available at certain times.

That being said, the cafe is located in a rainforest after all, so be wary of monkeys that might come swooping down for your food.

Feeling a little sleepy after your meal? Lounge on the suspended net beds that offer you a wonderful view of the rainforest and enjoy the breeze. Or you could go for a hike to the waterfall nearby and immerse yourself fully in the cooling waters.

Extend your stay in the rainforest by booking a stay in their treehouses that have incredible views of the mountains. Don’t worry, all basic amenities are provided, but don’t expect to get any aircon around here! Every reservation includes breakfast, dinner and a guided rainforest trek.
