The sprawling ION Orchard is home to thousands of shops that will let you shop till you drop, but you know what’s something it’s direly missing? Ice cream. Even with the hundreds of BBT shops and upscale cafes, ION somehow lacked gelato options — until now that is.
Popular gelato brand Sunday Folks has recently collaborated with Bynd Artisan to launch an ION Experience Store where shoppers can browse through snazzy leather trinkets before sitting down for a refreshing dessert.
If you haven’t heard of Sunday Folks, it’s a cafe-hopping hotspot at Holland Village that’s loved for its instagrammable ice cream and desserts, and this collab store with Bynd Artisan is only Sunday Folks’ second-ever outlet.
And the outlet is stylishly set up as you’d expect from a store in ION, with elegant hues of white, brown, and gold underscoring its minimalistic blend of marble and wood.
Sunday Folks occupies the inner section with a small 11-seater space, while Bynd Artisan showcases their handmade leather crafts such as cardholders, luggage tags, and notebooks — you can even make customised gifts for your loved ones.
Instead of their iconic swirls of soft serve, Sunday Folks’ shared space with Bynd Artisan main highlight is their Ice Cream in Parfait form instead. Priced at S$18 each, 3 intricately decorated flavours are available —- Genmaicha Yuzu, Earl Grey Butterscotch, and Rum Raisins & Apple.
Get the Earl Grey Butterscotch Ice Cream Parfait if you’re looking for a striking blend of colours to add to your IG feed. It’s not just a looker though — the mix of earl grey lavender and butterscotch almond ice cream combined together for a blissfully smooth and fragrant profile, while the crumble and strawberry compote added layers of flavour and textures to it.
Not in the mood for ice cream? No problem, because you can get some dainty pieces of ice cream desserts here at the Bynd Artisan + Sunday Folks store too, as well as slices of cake.
As chocolate lovers, we naturally went for the Noir (S$14) which was a stupidly decadent chocolate ice cream tart sporting a deft touch of zesty sour morello cherry mousse to cut through the heaviness with its bright sourness.
But our favourite had to be the Marrakesh (S$14) which came loaded with a strong nutty fragrance from the roasted pistachio ice cream, with a touch of fruity orange notes to balance everything. Not too strong, not too sweet, just the right amount of richness/
Or if you’re looking to get some ice cream in the fridge for those late-night Netflix sessions, you can also get Ice Cream Pints (S$19) to go. Besides their classic flavours such as Honey Lemon Yuzu sorbet and Rum & Raisins, there are also exclusives to the Bynd Artisan + Sunday Folks store — namely the Genmaicha with Candied Lemon & Nori Popcorn and Earl Grey Lavender with Toasted Almond Thins.
And if you need some caffeine to perk you up after all the intense shopping, you can get some of the coffee options including Black (S$5), White (S$6), Piccolo (S$5.50) and Mocha (S$6.50).
