One of my favourite areas in Singapore, Portsdown Road, is home to a creative community of artists (Artwalk@Wessex, anyone?), gorgeous colonial houses and vibrant greenery. Here is where you’ll also find Under Der Linden, a beautiful flower-themed restaurant serving rustic colonial European vibes, and some really good food.
Settle down wherever you want – every corner in this establishment is IG-worthy from the alfresco and indoor dining areas to the fine-dining restaurant. (There’s also an in-house florist and private event space if you’re interested!)
Whether you’re here for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks or dessert, they’ve got you covered with different menus served throughout the day. The breakfast menu consists of toast and breakfast platters, while the lunch and dinner menus offer a variety of food from light bites to hearty mains (such as Galican Octopus, Squid Ink Spaghetti and Grain-fed Argentina Angus Ribeye).
They’ve also recently opened their Dessert House this May 2022, where you’ll find an array of dainty sweet treats!
Visiting Under Der Linden feels a little like you’re getting whisked into a romantic daydream which isn’t all that surprising seeing as it’s actually inspired by a poem celebrating love in the embrace of nature.
(Written by the medieval German lyrical poet Walther von der Vogelweide, the poem tells a story of two young lovers meeting amongst ravishing flowers and crushed grass under the lime trees.)
With an air of romance, gorgeous spaces and an innovative approach to modern French cuisine, this is definitely one to include on your list of places to eat the next time you’re planning to dine out.
PS: It’s also pet-friendly with many patrons bringing their furry companions along with them if you’re looking to bring your furkid out with you!
