Hair dyeing and bleaching are pretty common among ladies, especially since many girls take inspiration from popular K-Pop idols like Rose from Blackpink, or Hanni from NewJeans.
My colleague Yixuan has been dyeing her hair for the longest time now — she seems to turn up with a new hair colour every other month, channelling her idols YeonJun from TXT and Somi.
While she is slaying every hair colour, it does sometimes make me wonder how it is possible that she still has hair on her head, especially since she started dyeing her hair after finishing secondary school — that’s almost 10 years of damage!
Having a new hair colour each month serves as a great confidence booster for Yixuan, but it has also resulted in her experiencing some hair related issues like an oily and sensitive scalp, as well as damage from the excessive bleaching — these are all common side-effects of frequent hair dyeing and bleaching, which leads to hair loss.

I hope you like surprises because we were really stunned at what we saw from the scans like the flakes, clogged pores, and redness. The scans also help your specialist to assess and come up with a customised scalp treatment that would best address your scalp concerns, be it hair loss, dandruff or oily scalp.
Following the scalp analysis, we headed off to do some real work on her scalp. Yixuan’s oily and sensitive scalp was treated to a Scalp Purifying Treatment that helped to unclog her pores and stimulate hair growth.
The first step was to apply a specially customised purifying formula onto her scalp which helps to unclog her pores, remove any dirt and dead skin from her scalp. Don’t worry, it is a super chill and relaxing process. You’ll need to wait for 20 minutes for the formula to set, so in the meantime you can sit back and relax with a nice cup of tea.
Once the formula has fully set, it’s time to go for a soothing Meridian hair wash to wash all the gunk out of your hair.
Fun fact: all scalp treatments here have been formulated using premium-grade Chinese herbs like Ginseng and He Shou Wu. These ingredients help to stimulate hair follicles, prevent hair loss and improve blood circulation for optimal hair growth.
To help Yixuan to prevent further hair loss, cue the Medi Air Jet and the Anti-Hair Loss (DHT) Ampoule to the rescue! The ampoule is enriched with Saw Palmetto and Biotinyl Tripeptide which targets hair loss and enhances blood supply to hair follicles.
It is used with the Medi Air Jet which is a high-pressure, non-invasive treatment that uses high-pressure air to deliver the DHT ampoule into the scalp for better absorption. This treatment is also completely painless so you don’t have to worry about anything and focus on relaxing.
After the ampoule has been applied onto the scalp, you’ll be treated with a Meridian Scalp Massage which follows the principles of meridian points in traditional Chinese medicine, aiming to promote scalp health.
If you find yourself dozing off during the massage, that’s totally normal. The massage helps improve your sleep quality too, which is always a bonus.
Next was the Alpha Hair Beam, which will require you to don a futuristic looking helmet. The ‘helmet’ uses low-level laser therapy to treat the scalp by providing a vasodilator effect to stimulate hair growth.
Don’t worry, it might sound scary but it is completely non-invasive and you won’t feel anything at all. The Alpha Hair Beam takes up to 20 minutes so make sure to get comfy.
Once that is all done, you’ll do a post-treatment analysis to see the vast improvements in your hair and scalp condition. I was really excited for this part because I wanted to know how Yixuan’s scalp would look post treatment — will all the gunk in her hair still be there?
Yixuan’s scalp was much cleaner and her hair looked so smooth and shiny! I have to admit that we were both very impressed at the improved results after just one session of the Beijing 101 Hair & Scalp Treatment.
