It’s finally happening. After teasing us last year and leaving us with some awkward silence for a while, Egg Slut’s Singapore outlet is finally opening! It’s a bit like flirting with your crush for a year and they actually agree to go out with you in the end.
So many people were hyped up that we could finally get a taste of those creamy egg sandwiches of everyone’s dreams. The LA Brand started from the bottom, selling its world-famous sandwiches out of a food truck in L.A. and now we’re here, with their first-ever Southeast Asian outlet.
It’s located on the first floor of Scotts Square in Orchard Road but isn’t currently open to the public yet. If you’re a diehard fanatic of Egg Slut, then you got to get your ass down there when they open to the Singapore public on 9 September 2021 at 11am.
So what should you order from Egg Slut? Well, their iconic Fairfax Sandwich (S$12) is a safe choice that’s loved by fans all over the world, be it in LA or Seoul. These are made with Egg Slut’s special fluffy brioche buns air-flown from Korea to Singapore.
The sandwich gives you a heap of their signature cage-free scrambled eggs, along with a comforting touch of heat and sweetness injected by an ensemble of chives, caramelised onions, cheddar cheese, and Sriracha mayo.
Another worldwide must order is The Slut (S$10) which showcases a silky potato puree with a coddled egg, made from the cage-free eggs that Egg Slut brings into Singapore from Japan.
The eggs are cooked and served in a glass jar and presented to you with grey salt, chives and crunchy slices of baguette that you can dunk into all that rich eggy mess.
However, the big boy to watch out for at Egg Slut Singapore is the hearty Gaucho Sandwich (S$23). This is one for the ballers, with a bunch of decadent Wagyu tri-tip steak hanging out of the buns, a semi-runny over medium egg, and topped with earthy Chimichurri sauce to complement the steak.
Or you can tone it down and get the more simple combinations on Egg Slut’s Singapore menu, such as the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwich (S$12) with punchy chipotle ketchup or Sausage, Egg & Cheese Sandwich (S$12) which contains a special house-made chicken sausage for the perfect texture.
If that all sounds good, then head down for a taste of the world-famous egg sandwiches. Since we’re stuck in Singapore for the time being, it’s always great to see an international chain come to our shores. But of course, be wary of the queues that will (probably) come with it.
