Love yourself some noodles? Far East Square has a newly opened buckwheat noodle place.

Though a new name to us, Gwanghwamun Mijin has been around since 1954, and is committed to preserving the rich culinary tradition of the Gwanghwamun area, in Seoul, South Korea, through its specialty — the Korean-style cold buckwheat noodles.

Since 2018, Gwanghwamun Mijin has been listed on the Michelin Guide Seoul, and has earned itself the Michelin Bib Gourmand award for eight consecutive years.

The menu stays true to its roots with its Signature Buckwheat Noodles (S$15)

Each order comes with two generous trays of house-made buckwheat noodles, a kettle of freshly brewed broth chilled to a slush. Toppings such as spring onions, grated daikon, and light wasabi can be added according to your personal preference.

You can also get the Signature Hot Buckwheat Noodles (S$16), enjoy them bibim-style with a savoury beef sauce (S$16), or try the vegetarian-friendly version infused with perilla (S$16), a Korean staple.

Sashimi lovers, rejoice! You can add on S$4 for a marinated salmon option.

Another famous dish is the Bossam (S$15 for a small portion), served with a side of lettuce, Ssamjang, and Saeu-jeot (salted fermented shrimp)

The boiled pork belly is tender and tasty, even on its own, enough to make me reminisce about my trip to Korea two years back.

My favourite was the Steam Korean Dumpling (S$7) for three pieces.

Something about the dumplings tastes like my highly-appraised signature chives dumplings, but Korean-esque

The juicy meat wrapped in thin dumpling skin with a good amount of saltiness is something I see myself craving and going back to Gwanghwamun Mijin for.

Gwanghwamun Mijin also offers Singapore-exclusive creations, such as the Pan-fried Salmon (S$20) and the Fried Chicken Cutlet (S$17), catering to those who do not eat pork or beef.

Let me know what you will be ordering at Gwanghwamun Mijin.
