With Singapore littered with malls, you’d think it’s almost impossible for any more to pop up.
But what if I told you that you can find a new mall if you dig a little deeper? Introducing Icon Link@ClubStreet, a new kid on the block under our feet, or more accurately, beneath the Mercure ICON Singapore City Centre hotel!

This literal hidden gem links the Chinatown and Telok Ayer MRT stations. This means the perfect, quick pit stop for any office workers looking for a convenient lunch or retail fix minus the city heat.
As for what to expect, some familiar brands fill the list, including Luckin Coffee (I can already see you coffee addicts grinning), Cheers, and Domino’s Pizza.
However, I’m more interested in diving into non-household names. So here are a few to visit or anticipate their opening.
First, we have Jinkura Bowl & Brew, a new concept from Japanese restaurant Jinkura. The store combines Japanese fusion with an emphasis on a balanced diet.
The main items are their rice bowls and salad bowls in which you can mix and match sides.

Another lunch option to consider is Crumbz Up. You’re practically spoiled for choice as the store serves modern toast, burgers, acai smoothies and bowls, and all-day breakfast platters.

Various online reviews recommend the Cheesy Hashbrown Toast (S$3.80), Chicken Cutlet Toast (S$4), and Korean Street Toast (S$4). With the sandwiches, burgers, and all-day breakfast platters mostly priced below S$5 (in this economy?), you’re getting bang for your buck.

Looking for a little pick-me-up instead? For a sweet pause after a savoury lunch, treat your tastebuds to Japanese-style croissant bakery Hazukido’s second outlet.
The main reason you’ll want to drop by this particular branch is for its outlet-exclusive flavours. These include Sweet Potato and Taro (S$6.20) and the Original Bolo (S$5.90).

While Hazukido is anything but no frills, dessert shop Le Musée takes things to the next level.
This macaron-focused store has every flavour imaginable. For those with a more adventurous palette, try the Melon Parma Ham (S$8) (yes, I’m not joking).
Or get the Tokyo Banana (S$8), inspired by the iconic Japanese delicacy of the same name. All flavours are sandwiched between multi-coloured shells which make for edible masterpieces.

If you’ve got a little more time to kill, try retail therapy at Katia Verde. This independent art dealer will have you looking like you’re from the drama Emerald Hill with Peranakan pieces like their Kebaya Tops and Nyonya Shoes.

Then, get a style refresh at hair salon Kairos Hair to complete your look.

As mentioned, not all stores have opened. The F&B stores to anticipate include Ah Gong Teochew Noodle, Mount Faber Nasi Lemak, Nyonya Dao, Fun Toast, Tomoro Coffee, Sycamore, and Sweet Fragrance Hainan Dessert.
