Anthology by Compendium Spirits unveils a refreshed cocktail menu and hawker-inspired mains, blending iconic local desserts like Ice Kachang, Chng Teng, and Kaya Toast

by Cheryl Lim

Ever looked at your kaya toast in the morning and thought, this could use a little more… kick?

Well, you’re in luck because Anthology has turned some of Singapore’s most beloved flavours into cocktails, and they’re not holding back.

This spot is a playground for those who take their drinks seriously. From barrel-aging your own spirits to hands-on workshops, this is where your inner alcohol connoisseur comes to life. And with Anthology’s refreshed menu, you’re in for an exciting (and nostalgic) ride.

Imagine your favorite childhood drinks — only this time, with a grown-up twist. Starting at S$22, these cocktails blend classic local flavours with premium spirits, offering a boozy trip down memory lane (my grandmother would not be proud).

Bandung (S$22) is a staple of every Singaporean childhood and is now all dressed up for the occasion. Chendol gin meets floral lychee and rose, with a boozy splash of Bandung soju. Topped with a velvety lychee foam, it’s so pretty that I wouldn’t dare to drink it.

Soursop (S$24) on the other hand is a pretty bold move.

Soursop isn’t exactly your go-to cocktail ingredient (though this is a hit in admin’s book). Combined with Melaka arrack (distilled gula melaka) and the tartness of apple, it provides a crisp, clean base. The zestiness of soursop and honey’s natural sweetness bring balance. And it’s topped off with gold-dusted nata de coco.

One sip of this Chng Teng (S$26), and you’ll be transported to those hot afternoons when a bowl of this dessert is the ultimate refreshment. It’s said to be light, earthy (and in my opinion, ridiculously satisfying), almost like a dessert in liquid form.

And, we can’t leave out the Kaya Toast (S$24) because Singapore runs on kaya toast and kopi, so why not? Honestly, I’m most excited to try this out (fun fact, admin absolutely loves kaya toast).

Other options also include the Ice Kachang (S$38) and Chendol (S$26).

You can also indulge in their hawker-inspired classics. Choose from Signature Rendang Ragu (S$32), Laksa Tau Pok (S$16), Orh Luak with House-made Dressing (S$20), or the Solefish & Pork Dumplings with Black Garlic (S$18).

And for desserts, finish up with the Goreng Pisang Tart (S$15) or Orh Nee (S$16).

I honestly can’t wait to see what they cook up next.

So, will you be heading down to try any of Anthology’s refreshed menu out?
