As a Singaporean, I cannot deny that the magic of Johor Bahru – with its large multi-storey malls and affordably priced products – serves as a constant seduction. Like a sailor drawn into a siren song, I always find myself blown away with wonder whenever I cross the causeway to shop, eat, and pamper myself.
So when I learnt that supermarket chain Jaya Grocer has opened their biggest outlet in Eco Galleria located in Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru, I was ecstatic because I can finally drive to a nearby Jaya Grocer and reach there within 25 minutes from Tuas Checkpoint.
Boasting 35,000 square feet, this huge outlet has over 40,000 product units for you to shop from along with broad and spacious aisles to stroll between and browse.
Even when I am in Singapore, my excitement sometimes brings me to places like hardware mixed appliances stores (that I can spend hours at). So imagine my pleasant surprise when I learned that Jaya Grocer also has a home appliance section that lets me get lost amongst the aisles.
Not only that, Jaya Grocer also hasrows and rows of alcohol for you to choose from, a baby section with everything your kids could possibly need, an Asian Grocer that ticks all the boxes of your grocery list, and even an extensive halal meat section.
Remember when Carrefour was a thing in Singapore? Jaya Grocer is basically that to Malaysians.
Other locations in Malaysia that Jaya Grocer has a presence are Kuantan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, Negeri Sembilan, Johor Bahru, and even Penang, but this is the largest outlet after all, so you can look forward to an extra long shopping sesh!
