The highly anticipated Ramadan event returns to the scenic Kampong Gelam district with over 100 F&B and retail booths, an arts and lights showcase, mass Iftar & more!
Taking place from now until 5 April 2024, One Kampong Gelam promises to be an even bigger and grander affair in its fourth edition, and you can expect to find over 100 of your favourite F&B offerings setting up booths over at the bazaar front.
These include bazaar classics like The Original Vadai, Ramly, Broti and more. Other unique offerings to check out include YAMI for hearty sandwiches. All Things Black by Ashes Burnnit also joins in the festivities with their signature burgers and Charcoal roti johns. My personal favourite, The Original Pisang Keju will also be there with their super crispy and sweet fried bananas.
And while it sounds like a lot, don’t worry because as compared to previous years, this year the bazaar is more spread out so you’ll not be fighting with the crowd as much — yay!
I don’t know about you but I can never turn down a good taco, so imagine my excitement when I saw La Birria’s booth right here — of course I’m gonna get it.
The Birria Tacos (S$12 for two) has the savoury goodness of the tender shredded beef, wrapped in a lightly toasted soft taco shell. You should definitely dip it in the dipping sauce to elevate the flavours of the taco, while adding a touch of sourness.
Spice up your bazaar experience with Frank on Wheels’ Spicy Korean Fries Turkey Bacon (S$10.90) that comes drenched in spicy samyang-like sauce and topped with beef dengdeng (aka jerky).
If you’re one of those that can’t handle spice, then the Truffle Mac & Cheese Smokey Fries (S$11.90) is definitely the one to get. It is drenched in nacho cheese sauce topped with macaroni and popcorn chicken. It’s aromatic, super cheesy, and makes for the perfect bazaar food.
No time for a trip to Korea? No problem, because you’ll get a little taste of Korea here at Kampong Gelam bazaar 2024. The Beef Bulgogi Korean Toast (S$10) from Meokja is a must try.
Sandwiched between two buttery and lightly toasted slices of bread is a generous serving of beef bulgogi, caramelised onions and cheese. The toast was sweet, savoury and super hearty all at the same time.
They also have other Korean snacks like Kimchi Pajeon (from S$9), and the quintessential street snack Kimbap (from S$9).
It’s gonna be hot and humid (as always) so you’ll definitely need to drink up. Thankfully, the bazaar’s iconic mega-sized drinks are back to do just that.
TEH-OHHH has a variety of fruit teas like Nenas (S$6), Epal (S$6), and your original teh Peng ($5) that would be great to quench your thirst amidst the heat. Tebuuuu has unique sugarcane drinks as well as Ramadan specials like the Asam Boi (S$6.50), Bandung Cincau (S$6.50) and King Katira (S$6.50).
For something a little more fizzy, HABIBTEA has some unique mocktail concoctions like the very refreshing and sweet Lemon Lime fizz (S$7).
Now that you’ve got your bellies filled, it’s time to do some shopping. On the retail front, you can look forward to getting your Hari Raya essentials from clothes to accessories, beauty products and more.
The very popular store from Malaysia, LUVPHORA will be setting up shop at the Kampong Gelam Bazaar 2024 featuring their signature perfumes (from S$16), lipsticks (from S$15) and more. Fun fact: their matte foundations (from S$15) come with SPF 45 too!
Popular thrift store Fibres Friction also set up shop here alongside Love Prettysugar and One Batik. Get ready to shop for new fits here.
Other exciting activities taking place during the Bazaar include live performances from Malaysian singers Tomok and Alif Satar, alongside local artist Taufik Batisah. There’ll also be free screenings of documentaries and web series daily at Sultan Gate between 5.30pm and 10pm.
