If you’re eager to catch Wonka starring Timothée Chalamet, why not also make plans to visit Singapore’s very own chocolate factory — Mr Bucket Chocolaterie in Dempsey?
This festive season is proving to be an extra sweet one, as the chocolaterie has transformed into a magical Christmas Village starting today!
The experiential space and contemporary chocolate wonderland has always been a go-to for chocolate lovers looking to purchase (and sample) the likes of artisanal chocolate bars and bon bons, all crafted in-house using sustainably-sourced cacao from Asia.
Most visitors to the chocolaterie enjoy DIY-ing their very own chocolate bark, but if you’ve yet to, now’s your chance to Build Your Own Chocolate Slab (S$28 per box) and customise a one-of-a-kind Chocolate Christmas Tree at the Festive Creation Station.
Choose between two chocolate bases — 72% Dark or 50% Oat Milk — and personalise it with a selection of over 15 toppings like cornflakes, popping candy, dried raspberries, dried orange slices, Fruity Pebbles, and even potato chips.
Feel free to make it as colourful or, in my case, as “rustic” as you like.
Contrary to what some may think, I’m very proud of my creation, which I jazzed up with caramelised hazelnuts, pistachios, mini marshmallows, and potato chips.
Your creation will be presented in a gift set complete with a wooden hammer, so you’re in for a smashing good time!
As you wait for your tree-rrific creation to set (it takes about 20 minutes), why not hit up the dedicated booth for comforting cups of complimentary hot chocolate and mulled wine?
If you’re planning to get some Christmas shopping done, make a beeline for the Festive Bon Bons, featuring an array of seasonal flavours. I recommend getting the box of six (S$34.50), which comes with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options — Yuzu Tart, Mont Blanc Raspberry, Fig & Balsamic, Eggnog, Piedmont Hazelnut, and my favourite of the lot, Peppermint Cookie.
Other options perfect for gifting include the Festive Chocolate Dragee Set (S$4), Drinking Chocolate Kit (S$51.50), and the festive Peppermint (S$15) and Panettone Chocolate Bar (S$16).
If you’re all about that booze, you can also pick up a bottle of Mr Bucket’s signature Cacao Wine (S$65), which is included in the handy Mulled Wine Kit (S$96), or Chocolate Nigori (S$65), a unique chocolate sake, creamy with a fruity aftertaste, that I couldn’t resist buying for myself.
Otherwise, you can take your pick from Gift Boxes (from S$116.50) featuring a mix of bestselling products and festive treats. And of course, if you’re unsure of what to get, a visit to the experiential tasting area will do just the trick!
Also, don’t miss out on the exclusive selection of dine-in treats like handcrafted chocolate entremets and pastries, including the likes of Black Forest, Elderflower Speculoos, and Hazelnut Tart.
You have until 31 December 2023 to visit Mr Bucket Chocolaterie’s Christmas Village, so don’t wait any longer — it’s time to unleash your inner child, go all out, and just indulge.
PS. keep the festive spirit up by hitting up a couple of these Christmas markets, especially if you’re having trouble coming up with gift ideas!
