This popular Melbourne cafe has opened their largest outlet in Dempsey Hill, offering a unique outlet-exclusive menu featuring Chilli Scrambled Eggs, Brown Sugar Boba Cake and many more

Let’s say you’re at ION Orchard and craving a good cup of joe, where would you go? If you’re like me and would head first for Puzzle Coffee, you’ll be in for a treat.

Turns out this Melbourne-born specialty coffeehouse has gained such a strong following here in Singapore that they’ve opened a second outlet.

The new location still sits in the Orchard vicinity but this time, it brings a more tranquil and scenic setting compared to their original spot. For those who’ve guessed Dempsey Hill, you hit the nail on the head.

The interior pays perfect homage to its home country, effortlessly capturing the vibe of a cosy Melbourne coffee shop. Like at most Dempsey Hill establishments, I would prefer taking a seat outdoors to people-watch and simply soak in the atmosphere (of course, only when the weather is pleasant).

At Puzzle Coffee’s flagship outlet, you can indulge in an all-day menu that’s available exclusively here. So, don’t expect just coffee to be served, though you should definitely order a cup to go along with your dishes.

Not gonna lie, I was pumped to discover the menu didn’t just serve up the usual brunch staples. Instead, it offers some seriously unique dishes.

For example, the Chilli Scrambled Eggs (S$26) is a must-have for someone who loves all things spicy.

Fluffy scrambled eggs sit atop a grilled sourdough toast that has been spread with a layer of in-house chilli jam. Finished off with a sprinkle of goat cheese and jalapeños, this dish is a perfect balance of savoury and spicy.

Another savoury goodness is the Prawn Linguine (S$30). Ok, this dish may not be uncommon but it was done well, so it deserves a mention.

The noodles are tossed in a mix of capers, chilli, dill, cherry tomatoes, butter, and white wine, then crowned with a generous serving of five prawns. The prawns were extremely fresh, succulent, and perfectly seared, adding a burst of flavour that elevated the entire dish.

You wouldn’t want to miss out on the sweets as well, especially considering how interesting they are.

I mean, Brown Sugar Boba Cake (S$21)? Sign me up! Light and airy Hojicha chiffon cake is topped with a generous spoonful of cream, crumbly chocolate, and brown sugar boba pearls.

I don’t think I need to describe the texture as it should be self-explanatory but I would like to ‘warn’ y’all that you’ll need to eat this as quickly as possible. This is because the pearls would harden if left out too long.

As such, once you’ve snapped your picture, don’t wait — dig in right away to enjoy it at its best!

The Matcha Lava Cake (S$22) is also a decadent dessert that will no doubt satisfy your matcha craving. Crack it open and watch as the matcha lava ganache oozes out. Scoop up some of the matcha ice cream on top for an extra refreshing treat!

Of course, getting coffee is a must. The Melbourne Magic (S$6) is an outlet-exclusive concoction that truly allows Puzzle Coffee’s signature coffee blend to shine. It’s a double ristretto shot with less milk than a regular latte, letting the coffee’s natural sweetness take centre stage.

Other drinks you can get your hands on include Biscoff Latte (from S$6.50) and Strawberry Matcha (from S$6.50), alongside a selection of teas and juices.
