Even though Ramadan has just begun, the amount of bazaars and pasar malams have already taken us by storm (not that I’m complaining).
To add on to the ever-growing list, there’s another highly anticipated massive food fair taking place just across the borders.
If you missed out on their previous fair, Foodelicious, you mustn’t skip out on Park Maya Fest’s Ramadan Fiesta 2024 that will be running until 9 April 2024.
For those who have already made plans to visit Johor Bahru for the weekend, this is another opportunity to get affordable local fare sure to delight any foodie.
Located at Tebing Bandar Dato’ Onn, just twenty minutes away from the checkpoint, you can expect an exciting lineup featuring over 100 food and drink stalls.
You can expect to see vendors serving local favourites like nasi ambeng, nasi kerabu, and roti john.
However, if you’re in the mood for noodles instead, they also have the sweet and tangy assam laksa compared to the lemak curry laksa we’re used to back home.
Otherwise, stir-fried kway teow full of wok hei and noodles infused in umami seafood broth with large prawns can never go wrong for dinner.
Pair it with meat-forward dishes ranging from saucy ayam percik and grilled lamb to comfort foods like fried curry puffs and tauhu bergedil.
They’ve even put their own local twist onto popular items like hearty beef and chicken tacos loaded with cheese.
Nothing beats munching on authentic street food like charcoal-grilled satay, otah and chicken wings.
I mean, you can tell that they definitely don’t go light on the seasoning!
Don’t forget to bring home some brightly coloured bite-sized kuih muih.
DIY your very own dessert box with a huge selection to choose from ranging from kueh dadar, kuih kosui and even ondeh-ondeh.
Just saying, if someone presented me with this gift of sweet treats, I would be very happy indeed.
End off on a satisfying note with some refreshing ice drinks that come in every colour of the rainbow (super aesthetically pleasing).
You just know that it’ll be full of vibes with the bustling crowds and not to mention live performances starring local celebrities and influencers.
There’s nothing better than good food and entertainment, especially at a third of its usual price.
For the shopping enthusiasts, there will be retailers selling adult and children clothings as well (you might even find your fit for Raya here).
Most importantly, there is a designated space to break fast for our Muslim friends which is very convenient.
The fiesta will be open till midnight everyday so you can get your supper fix when those late-night cravings hit.
If you’re looking for somewhere to soak in the festivities during this season, Ramadan Fiesta 2024 has got everything you need!
