Singaporeans would brave any storm for this yellow, pungent, and fleshy fruit. Be it snaking long queues or the scorching hot sun, we’d sacrifice ourselves for a piece of these thorny durian babies.

But with COVID-19, things are a little different. If you’re craving for the King of Fruits but refuse to put yourself at risk, we’ve scoured 20 places to reserve quality durians and skip the queue, or get it delivered right to your doorstep.

With the owner having a reputation for being extremely selective with his durians, Combat Durian Balestier offers only quality durians for their customers. They try to accommodate their customers’ requests, so if you prefer your durian wet/drier/bitter or sweeter, simply indicate your preference and they’ll work on it.

Delivery is not available now, but you can reserve the durians for fuss-free self-collection. The prices fluctuate daily, but as of 28 June, Mao Shan Wangs (MSW) are going for S$24/kg.

With a product inventory ranging from fresh and frozen durians to packaged pure MSW pulp, 99 Old Trees is a one-stop-shop for any durian products. The durians come directly from their farms in Malaysia, meaning better quality and affordable prices.

They offer same-day delivery at only S$6.90 for orders placed before 3pm, while the delivery fee for orders above S$150 will be waived. Alternatively, you may also self-collect orders at their physical store.

Hailing from Ghim Moh market, Ah Seng Durian is a well-known vendor that’s familiar to all heartlanders. Though they do not provide delivery, you’re able to reserve the durians for self-collection, allowing you to skip the queue. 

Their prices are updated daily, with MSW and the Golden Phoenix going for S$45/box, 550g (without husk) and S$20/kg, with husk at 28 June respectively. The self-collection time slots are available at 1pm–3pm, 3pm–6pm and 6pm–8pm at both of their outlets.

It’s disappointing to open the husk of a durian only to find small pieces of flesh that are not worth their price. With Leong Tee Durian, the durians are bigger and plumper, so you’re guaranteed to get your money’s worth or more.

Since they’re a popular vendor, only 200 boxes a day will be sold. A variety of durians such as One Tree MSW, Golden Phoenix and even Black Pearl are available for the fussiest of eaters. The delivery fee is charged at S$10 per location, but you can also make your reservation and head down for self-collection.

Depending on your preference, you can order de-husked durians or the full fruit. The classic MSW is going for S$31/box, but we recommend getting five of them at S$145 — that’s a S$10 discount. What’s more, if you order through their site, you’re entitled to an extra S$10 discount for every S$130 spent.
