Anyone who is a fan of the retro and vintage scene would be familiar with Haji Lane. This charming street is home to countless trendy thrift stores, hipster dessert cafes, and quirky self-photo studios

Sure, there are plenty of things to do from shopping and eating to taking photos for the ‘gram at the colourful wall murals.

But, have you heard of a vinyl listening cafe in Haji Lane?

Slowbytes is a vinyl listening cafe that immerses you in a diverse range of music genres alongside self-help books and coffee.

You may have heard (or even visited) Slow Boat — Singapore’s first vinyl listening cafe — but if you’re looking for a more affordable option, you can always consider this spot instead.

Price-wise, tickets go for S$30/pax where you get to enjoy 90 minutes of music, books, and coffee.

With over 500 vinyl records to choose from including genres like jazz, rock, R&B and more, it’s a listening haven for music enthusiasts. You can also let the staff know if you’re looking for a particular genre or artist before heading down to save time.

You might be familiar with some albums like Laufey’s Bewitched composed of romantic jazz pop ballads or soulful tunes in 21 by Adele

Of course, we can’t forget about (mother) Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department filled with synth-pop and folk tracks.

Escape from the hustle and bustle with self-help reads like Haemin Sunim’s The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down or a visual feast in Wes Anderson’s Accidentally

These books accompanied with the soft lit, cosy ambience and soothing tunes sounds like the perfect way to spend a self-care day, no?

Afterwards, take a break from your vinyl listening session and refuel with the free-flow coffee like espresso, americano, and choco au laut

For those who aren’t a fan of coffee, you can also get freshly brewed jasmine or green tea. Just be considerate and clear your leftovers after you’re finished as it is a co-sharing space after all.

Be it a solo, couple date or just catching up with friends, this is the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind over music and books.
