Remember the cult favourite burger bar along Amoy Street which shuttered its doors in late 2022?
It was formerly known as Burger Joint, having opened as a franchise of the OG Burger Joint in New York City, best known for their legendary “no muss, no fuss” New York-style burgers. Afterwards, it rebranded as burger bar new york, and by then, had garnered a really strong following here in Singapore. Good times.
And now, the same “people who were the hands and legs of the famous Burger restaurant in Amoy Street” is back and better than ever at The Bank, a newly established burger joint and craft beer bar.
Situated along Craig Road, the entrance is fairly inconspicuous (though not as “hidden” as its predecessor, which could only be accessed via an alleyway on Genmill Lane) — just “look for the ATM” and distinctive neon sign.
Modelled after a retro 1980s American diner, the neon-lit interior of The Bank oozes old-school cool, but with a fun yet glamorous touch.
The menu is kept simple, with all emphasis placed on the signature burgers (there are only three, for now), alongside a modest selection of sides, milkshakes, and of course, craft beers.
If you’ve got the feels for a classic New York-style cheeseburger, look no further than the Signature Cheeseburger (S$18.80 for single, S$26.80 for double), which stars hand-butchered and pressed 100% prime Angus beef with melted American cheese and “the works” (lettuce, tomato, onion, and housemade sauce).
We’ve also heard rave reviews of the Chicken Burger (S$18 for single, S$26 for double), comprising fried buttermilk chicken and melted cheese with your choice of Spicy Coleslaw or a Bacon and Herb Aioli.
In true diner fashion, the sides served here are extra indulgent, the kind worth getting down and dirty for. Think Spicy Bacon Cheese Fries (S$14), Mozzarella Sticks (S$10), and Onion Rings (S$14).
You can wash everything down with a Milkshake (S$12.50) in flavours like Chocolate, Strawberry, and Reeses (+S$2), but we wouldn’t say no to an extra decadent (and boozy) version made with Baileys (S$17).
If not, stick to the rotating selection of 12 craft beers on tap and end the night on a high.
