When Tokyo comes to mind, we’ll think of the buzzing city life and the delectable Japanese cuisine.
Contrary to popular belief, Tokyo is home to an active Muslim community that has helped pave the way for a growing number of Halal-friendly restaurants.
Whether you’re Muslim or not, we believe there’s definitely something on our list that would swoon your heart enough to plan a trip to Tokyo soon!
Sushi
Although seafood is Halal, sometimes Japanese rice can contain sake, or there might be cross-contamination with non-Halal meat in sushi restaurants.
To make life easier, we’ve rounded up three Halal-friendly sushi spots to hit your cravings: Asakusa Sushi Ken, Fujiyama Tokyo, and Sushi Zenmai.
Asakusa Sushi Ken

Top of the list is Asakusa Sushi Ken, located in Asakusa itself. They offer a variety of sushi, and their best seller is the Standard Sushi Set, which costs ¥1,800 (~S$15) and includes nine Nigiri and one Tamago sushi.
The larger size costs ¥3,000 (~S$25), 1.5 times bigger than the standard set. If you’re a big sushi lover, upgrading to the larger size is too great a deal to pass up.
