Now that you’ve taken a leap of faith and decided to solo travel, what activities are there that you can do alone?
If you’re reading this, chances are that you’ve already made plans to visit Vietnam. That being said, here’s something that is solo-friendly and won’t burn a hole in your wallet — plus it’s something that you definitely can’t get back at home.
Chidori is Vietnam’s first Japanese cafe that offers coffee in bed with seven outlets sprawled across Ho Chi Minh City.
Be it a mini daycation, a quiet spot to get work done, or a private space to hang out with newfound travel buddies, Chidori has many space types designed for different needs and privacy levels.
There are a variety of packages available, but the most enticing would have to be Coffee in Bed. Even though we have tons of daycations and cafes available in Singapore, we’ve never had the option to munch on cafe fare whilst in bed!
That’s right, you can book a Little Recharge (S$4.31, VN80,000) to get a private room for one hour alongside a beverage of your choice.
It features a cute and cosy, private room with fully equipped amenities including a work desk, soft blanket and power outlets. Perfect for solo backpackers who are looking to make a quick pit stop, perhaps?
However, there are other options like the One Day Getaway (S$18.85, VN350,000) for eight hours of bed usage with two drinks, one food item, one ice cream, and a cake.
If you’re looking for the ultimate self-care day in Vietnam, this might just be a way to get away from the hustle and bustle.
Alternatively, they have other rooms like Cafe Space which lets you spend unlimited usage time with free WiFi as long as you order an item from their menu.
Since it’s becoming more and more common nowadays to work from home, it’d be a nice change in scenery to work from a cafe instead. Take a quick breather and explore the veranda filled with lush greenery and natural light.
Or if you’re coming with a small group of friends, Level Seat is a semi-private space with a proper work desk and ample seating space to accommodate three to five people.
They do have a pretty extensive drinks menu featuring options like the ever-so-popular Genmaicha Milk Tea (S$3.50, VN65,000), Japanese Bubble Milk Tea (S$4.04, VN75,000), and Hojicha Rice Milk (S$3.23, VN60,000).
But, if you’re feeling peckish after an entire afternoon of meetings, they have hearty cafe fare like Yakisoba Fried Noodles and Spicy Grilled Chicken Rice or Spaghetti Bolognese for S$5.11 (VN95,000) each.
Indulge in a scoop (or two) of ice cream (S$1.88, VN35,000) with flavours including Hojicha, Salted Caramel, and Coconut.
Other specialty desserts like homemade cookies, caneles, and even mini birthday cakes like Tiramisu, Orange Sunflower, and Double Chocolate for S$3.17 (VN59,000).
Regardless of whether you’re travelling solo, planning a fun date with your partner, or getting work done with friends, it sounds like the perfect place for a peaceful retreat with hearty Japanese fare and refreshing drinks.
