Christmas Wonderland 2023 returns this festive season with a supersized fairground, grander light displays, new carnival rides and more

by June Ngooi

Joy to the world, Christmas has come! Remember how ceremonious last year’s Christmas Wonderland was?

Imagine that but on a grander scale. Yes folks, I bring ye good tidings

From 1 December 2023 to 1 January 2024, Christmas Wonderland will return to Gardens by the Bay but with an exciting line-up of new carnival rides, brighter light displays, and an array of food stalls!

What better way to usher this holiday in than to feel like you have been transported to Santa’s Village to spend merry whimsical festivities?

This year, the carnival is split into three zones as compared to last year’s six: Supertree Grove, Gingerbread Grove, and Frosty Fairground. So, stick around and explore all the zones to maximise your festive fun!

Highlights

Here are some of the main attraction highlights to look out for when you’re there, so do take note!

Spalliera

Every Christmas needs its Christmas tree, and every Christmas Wonderland needs its Spalliera to take centre stage.

This year, the Spalliera is inspired by the Mesola Castle in North Italy’s province of Ferrara. Standing majestically at 20 metres tall, this is one attraction that’s hard to miss.

Garden Rhapsody & Blizzard Time

Against the backdrop of the Spalliera, enthral yourself with the captivating Garden Rhapsody light dance show, during which the iconic Supertrees will “dance” to Christmas classics. Those of you who missed the snowfall at Christmas Wonderland last year will get a chance to experience it again this year with Blizzard Time.

Do take note that show timings are at 7.45pm, 8.45pm, and 9.35pm daily.

Mistletoe Alley

The gift of giving is at its peak at Christmastime, so get your fix of exploring the ornamental paraphernalia sold at the various festive huts along Mistletoe Alley

On top of cramming your last minute gift shopping in, don’t forget to stop by the photobooths to capture some fun memories!

IG-Worthy Spots

Although you can bet that most of the spots in Christmas Wonderland 2023 are already  pretty aesthetic to snap pictures at, here are some of the significant spots to adorn your IG stories.

Walk of Lights

One of my favourite highlights, the Walk of Lights will definitely not disappoint this year! Stretching an impressive 65 metres (the longest yet), get ready to be starstruck as you are led through this ‘tunnel’ with its iridescent myriad of colours.

Light Displays

With all this excitement when it comes to the fabulous light installations, how could we forget the light displays set up around the venue?

For the first time at Christmas Wonderland 2023, you can look forward to welcoming the Holly Roger ship along with its crew of merry pirate elves! At 24 metres long, this enormous Christmas vessel will be a sight to behold in all its grandeur.

Gingerbread Grove

For the fans of sweets, it’s time to channel your inner Hansel and Gretel at this sugary-themed zone. The newly added Gingerbread Grove proudly displays a vibrantly lit Gingerbread House surrounded by a field of illuminated candy canes.

Your taste buds are in for a treat as well, with the nearby stalls offering sweet festive treats!

Family Fun

Are you really truly engaging in the Christmas festivities if you’re not spending that joy with your loved ones?

Santa Meet-and-Greet

There is still time to add brownie points to your ‘naughty vs. nice’ score before you meet Santa this year! Be sure to snap photos with him before his next shift calls him to deliver presents.

Frosty’s Fairground

At the heart of this zone sits various carnival rides and games that both you and the little ones can enjoy. Take a nostalgic trip this Christmas onboard rides like Bumper Cars, Carousel, Flying Dumbo, and Hot Air Balloon

Do take note that rides start from S$8 and tickets can be purchased via QR codes onsite.

Food

While you’re feasting your eyes on all those light displays and shows, don’t forget to also give your tummy a feast with more festive dining choices than ever before!

Expect to see F&B establishments like Burger & Lobster, Sofnade, GOPIZZA, and even Beverly Hills Cheesecake amongst many others peppered across the event venue. So treat yourself and grab a bite if you need a break from all that walking.
