Running out of fun things to do in Singapore? Well, maybe it’s time to take your adventure out of mainland Singapore and explore the surrounding islands, like Lazarus Island. And before you ask, no, you do not need your passport to visit the island.

Getting to Lazarus island is pretty simple — it’s just a short 15-minute ferry ride from Sentosa Cove Jetty. The island gained popularity during the pandemic and is known for its pretty sandy beaches and clear waters. And now, it’s all set to make your time here even more exciting with a host of new attractions that have sprouted up — including tiny homes for a short staycay, a water sports centre, a convenience store, glamping amenities and more!

If you thought BTOs were small, wait till you step inside these tiny homes. Don’t be fooled by its tiny size, these homes have everything you possibly need — and more! These tiny homes by Big Tiny are actually really popular overseas. (And having visited the homes, we can totally see why.)

There are a total of five homes on the island, each with a different theme according to various iconic eras in Singapore, from the colonial era right up to the modern 2000s. But, demand for these houses are in super high demand so we recommend booking months in advance if you wanna secure your slot.

As you step inside, you’ll be able to get a full view of the entire home — the kitchenette, living room, and bedroom — as the whole home sports an open concept, with the exception of the toilet (for obvious reasons)

The kitchenette is fitted with a microwave, toaster, a mini fridge and even a portable stove, so you can cook up a feast here. There’s even a coffee machine, which is great for those of us who need a little caffeine boost in the morning.

My favourite part of the home is the bed. Apart from being super comfy, it also boasts a stunning view of the shore, so imagine waking up to that!  In the morning, you can even sit out on the patio and enjoy your morning coffee with the gentle sea breeze in your hair. If you’ve always wanted to live by the beach, now’s your chance to live that dream (for a day).

The home is fully air- conditioned, which is perfect for you to cool down after some time under the sun. Oh and did we mention that the home also comes equipped with a flat screen TV for you to Netflix and chill too? Say no more.

Sustainability is the main theme for the island and that echoes through even in the homes. Each home is fitted with solar panels on the roof which provides the homes with energy and power. There’s also a food biodigester in every unit which you can use to turn your food waste into compost within just 24 hours.

Sol Convenience Store

Who would’ve thought that there’d be a little convenience store on an island? Sol by BDC is probably the epitome of convenience stores. They’ve got pretty much everything you would need for the perfect island getaway.

Need some late-night snacks to accompany you on your movie marathon? The convenience store has an array of chips, biscuits and even cup noodles for you to have the perfect supper under the stars.

Speaking of cup noodles, the store also has the Haidilao self-heating hotpot — because why not? You can enjoy a hearty Haidilao meal even on the island — it really doesn’t get any better than that.

You can also shop for daily necessities like shampoo, shower gel, sunblock, facial wash, and even medicated oil here too. If you’re planning to spend the night, make sure to grab a couple of their hearty microwavable ready-to-eat meals and ready-to-grill food items. They’re all curated by a local chef so you know the food’s gonna be really yummy.

There’s also pre-marinated meats as well as eco-friendly barbecue pits available here too if you’re planning to do a little campfire of sorts.

Beyond just swimming in the sea and building sandcastles on the seashore, there’s so much more you can do now at Lazarus Island. Lazarus Sea Sports Centre by Camelot has finally opened its doors to the public, and boy are you in for a splashing good time. Don’t worry, everyone will be provided a personal floatation device so you can still have fun in the water even if you can’t swim.

At the sea sports centre, you’ll get to explore different sea sports like stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, and even aqua yoga. Sticking to the eco-friendly theme of the island, all the boats here do not come with a motor — you are the motor.

Make sure you have a good meal before heading over because you’re gonna need all the energy you can get, especially if you’re going for the paddle boards — trust us when we say you’ll be doing a whole arm workout

The one ride that I was most excited to try was the sea bicycle. And in case you’re wondering what a sea bicycle is, it’s like a cross between a boat and a bicycle. If you love going for spin, this one is right up your alley. It’s a unique experience that should not be missed. The best part about this is, it’s super stable so you won’t fall into the water (hopefully)

We also strongly recommend going for the paddle boards, especially if you’re going with friends. This is the real friendship test, will you be able to complete your session without capsizing the boat?

There are boards for single riders, two riders, and even four riders. Pro tip: if you’re afraid of falling into the water, go with someone who has got guns. At least you can trust them to do the heavy lifting.
