Thinking of watching a ballet recital? Read our review of Cinderella Ballet 2025 first

In line with the festive season, the Singapore Ballet has brought their renowned ballet recital Cinderella to Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay. You would think that all there would be for you to see is the cliché Cinderella story right? Well, this ballet experience offers you more than just sitting in your seat.

Upon entering the theatre foyer, you will be greeted by a merchandise store filled with catalogues, Cinderella-inspired jewellery, and other items like postcards and musical boxes.

Their jewellery, in particular, is produced by the Forbes-featured brand, Hey Maeve. Featuring necklaces, bracelets, and earrings from their collaborative collection, Borrowed Midnight, these precious pieces range from S$87–S$140.

Further into the foyer, moodboards created for the Singapore Ballet recital are displayed for you to admire before the theatre hall doors open. Pinned on the moodboards are drafts of the Cinderella Ballet final costumes, alongside the costumes’ original fabric.

Contrary to popular opinion, I was a huge fan of the stepsisters’ costumes thanks to their intricate layering and ruffling techniques which were elegantly showcased on stage.

Once the theatre hall doors opened, I was drawn to the huge clock set up in the middle of the stage, glowing with illuminations. As the curtains rose, realistic props inspired by Cinderella’s home greeted the audience, and the performance began.

The Cinderella Ballet is divided into three acts, with a 15-minute intermission between each act. If you feel the need to use the restroom or make a call, it is strongly recommended to do so during the intermission.

During the intermission, you can exit the theatre hall to browse the merchandise again, or explore the nearby premises. If you do decide to leave the concert area, make sure to collect an intermission card from the Esplanade staff to be able to re-enter the hall.

Overall, this Cinderella Ballet experience was one that made this December more memorable for me, and I’m sure it will do the same for you. Even if you miss this show, the Singapore Ballet has plenty more lined up in 2026, so be sure to check out their calendar and block off your dates early.

Singapore Ballet performances can be booked via SISTIC or the Singapore Ballet website. In addition, you can use the code FRIENDS15CIN for 15% off tickets.
