Future World at ArtScience Museum has IG-worthy light installations, interactive digital worlds & more

by Trinity Sun

Wander through glowing bars as you explore a collaborative exhibition, create your own digital artwork and guide it through a digital realm, and change the fabric of a crystal-studded chamber. These are just some of the things you can do at the revamped Future World, ArtScience Museum’s futuristic-themed exhibition.

There are two sections in Future World: City in a Garden, and Exploring New Frontiers, with something for everyone. In City in a Garden, step into a blooming garden which changes with your actions – watch the flowers scatter when you touch them.

Or explore immersive digital installations where technology creates breathtaking waterfalls and forests. Here, you can also design your own digital vehicle and add it to a bustling cityscape, and create your own underwater creature.

The possibilities are endless in Exploring New Frontiers, which houses the newest popular interactive installation Aerial Climbing through a Flock of Colored Birds, where you’ll feel like you’re in a neon world with digital projections above and below you. Climb through a series of neon bars and find your way to the other side, but the bars are connected, so every movement will affect the way others experience the installation!

You can’t miss the signature Crystal Universe which makes a comeback as always. Step into an infinite chamber of lights as you change the patterns of the lights through a smart device. With plenty of photo spots here, it’s one of the most IG-worthy installations in the exhibition!

After you’ve wandered through snapshots of the future, don’t forget to stop by the Digital Light Canvas by teamLab at the Shoppes, where you can sketch spectral creatures and watch them come to life, or set off digital fireworks. You can also get them printed on a badge, tote bag, or T-shirt as a souvenir! If you’ve bought a Future World Ticket (S$16.10), tickets to the Digital Light Canvas can be purchased for just S$5!

Looking for something fun and unique to do on the weekend? Then pay a visit to Future World and immerse yourself in a digital futuristic realm!
