July’s Cloud is dessert heaven with its Banana Pudding, Basque Cheesecake, Strawberry Matcha and more

I’m still waiting for more neighbourhood bakeries to pop up in my vicinity, but it looks like Joo Seng’s residents won this time with the addition of new dessert cafe July’s Cloud.

Tucked away in Joo Seng Green, this dessert spot is a quiet hideaway from the afternoon heat. Make a beeline for Block 2, and you’ll find its minimalist storefront across the road from Joo Seng Food Place.

As a nod to its name, July’s Cloud is adorned with cloud embellishments, from its adorable cloud logo to its large, cloud-shaped light fixtures.

They’re also selling Herbal Tea Eggs (S$1.30) outside, which gave us a good laugh (it’s a little random, but hey, no complaints).

I was curious about the origins of the cafe’s name, so we had a chat with the friendly staff and discovered that July’s Cloud is inspired by the cloud-ridden skies in July.

And, fun fact: It’s also the owner’s birthday in July.

Here, you’ll be able to find a sweet treat for every craving — from ice cream and cake to banana pudding, tiramisu, and other baked treats.

My colleague and I don’t have a sweet tooth (which is pretty ironic considering it’s basically a dessert haven here), but we truly enjoyed every dessert we tried.

For us, the star of the show was the Basque Cheesecake (S$7.50). It was rich and tangy, with just the right amount of sweetness. The slightly gooey middle also elevated the cake’s creaminess.

Look out for the Banana Pudding (S$5), because it’s a limited-time treat. While I’ve never had banana pudding before, I was blown away by this humble yet light and addictive dessert. As a banana lover, this was banana heaven with Biscoff crumbs, banana slices, and lots of vanilla.

The Biscoff Cookie (S$2.90) was on the sweeter end, featuring a crunchy exterior and chewy inside. Unfortunately, the Biscoff flavour wasn’t very pronounced.

You can’t go wrong with a good ol’ muffin, and the Chocolate Chip Muffin (S$2.90) proves that. It’s crunchy on the outside, but still fluffy and soft on the inside.

To wash down your baked goods, choose between the grassier Mizu blend and the higher-quality Hikari matcha.

We picked the Mizu blend for the Strawberry Latte (S$8.90 for Mizu, S$10.90 for Hikari), which was a good move since the sweet strawberry syrup masks the weaker matcha profile. Still, I enjoyed this drink and think it’s worth a shot.

For the Matcha Latte (S$8.90 for Mizu, S$10.90 for Hikari), I recommend choosing the Hikari blend, which is described as having a mellow sweetness.

The cafe also serves Banana Pudding Matcha (S$9.90 for Mizu, S$11.90 for Hikari), although it’s not a permanent item.

We didn’t try the ice cream, but some flavours that caught my eye are the Sea Salt Matcha and Hay & Honey. Get a single scoop for S$4.50 or double down on the joy with double scoops for S$8

You can also top up for a Cone (S$1) or team up with your friends to devour a Waffle (S$6).

With free wifi and a few power plugs, July’s Cloud is a minimalist spot for a quick, productive session. And the best part? There’s no service charge or GST (honestly, such a save in today’s economy).

Are you ready to be on cloud nine with their wide range of desserts?
