However, finding this gem of a salon changed the game for me. Kimage Hairdressing School is a salon at Marina Square that offers insanely low prices — I’m talking S$6 for a wash and set!
You might be thinking — what’s the catch? Well, the stylists doing your hair are students.
They might not be as experienced as the stylists you usually go to, but don’t fret! In my experience, their supervisors maintain a watchful eye on their apprentices, especially for those who are carrying out more complex services.
Prices start from S$7 for a haircut, which is perfect for those looking to refresh their look on a budget. All their services are really affordable in general, especially in comparison with the other salons out there (even neighbourhood salons!). Cold perms (inclusive of a haircut) start from just S$26 for ladies, and S$36 for guys who want to achieve that oppa look. Where else would you be able to find such a good deal?
The salon also offers dyeing services at wallet-friendly rates, where both a single colour and (non-bleach) balayage starts from S$28. For those wanting to achieve a bright and vibrant head of hair, one round of bleaching also starts from S$28.
After subjecting your hair to all these chemicals, it’s good to follow up with a treatment to protect your luscious locks. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the treatments at Kimage start from only S$13!
If these low prices have enticed you to head down, do bear in mind that these stylists are students who are still learning — allocate more time than you usually would for a salon visit.
