Affordable alcohol? In Singapore? These four words typically do not go together. Due to how infamously expensive our alcohol tax is, we have gotten pretty crafty in finding little treats here and there for us to drink our tipples without emptying our wallets.
There’s a latest treat in town, though you’ll have to go all the way to the East to enjoy it (trust me, it’ll be worth it!).
The place is none other than Little Island Brewing Co @ Changi Village. While they have multiple outlets around Singapore, this outlet is where you can lap up especially affordable pints, while basking in the alfresco views. Plus, it’s pet-friendly too!
The microbrewery is bringing back its crowd favourite — Beer ATM, which is great for those looking to try out various flights before committing to a full pint. The best thing is that it’s entirely DIY, so you can dispense any amount of draft you want.
To get started, simply purchase the LIBC ATM card for S$2 and top it up with an initial S$10. After that, you can easily add credits in increments of S$5 whenever needed. Easy peasy.
Now, all you have to do is pick up a chilled glass from the counter and head on over to the many beer taps on display to pick your desired tipple.
The brews available on ATM include the Belgian-style Secret Saison, Stars & Bars American IPA, award-winning That Old Black Magic and many more. Do note that some of the beers on tap are seasonal and on a rotational basis.
Their house-brew, Dear Star, features tropical passionfruit notes, and is a must especially on humid days. The White Light, on the other hand, is a crowd-pleaser among those who love the scent and flavour of bananas.
For designated drivers, you aren’t forgotten as you can dive into a variety of mocktails, kombuchas and other non-alcoholic beverages. This means you can feel free to bring your little ones too.
Not all taps are priced the same though, so do keep your eyes peeled for the price per 100ml.
Currently, Little Island Brewing Co @ Changi Village is having an exciting promotion. Enjoy their Sister Golden Ale for just S$1.90 per 250ml every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday throughout June.
Of course, you’ll definitely want to pair your drinks with some food. On the menu are a range of hearty mains, from pizzas and smoked meats to grilled seafood and wagyu burgers.
