Japan’s mazesoba specialist, Menya Kokoro, is back at its newly revamped Suntec City outlet with a fresh new menu and SG60 deals.

What really sets this noodle chain apart is its handmade noodles, freshly made in-house. Their signature springy, chewy texture comes from a blend of wholegrain and wheat flour directly imported from Japan.

The fusion menu raised a few eyebrows, so obviously, the team had to head down to try them for ourselves.
Our favourite dish by a landslide was the Dry Super Nira Mazesoba (Regular: S$13.80, Large: S$15.80) with Chashu. These noodles had bite (chewy in the best way possible) and were heavy on chives and garlic.
The thick noodles soaked up all that spicy sauce, which had more kick than I expected. I used to think that Japanese food wasn’t too spicy, but this one definitely brought the heat.

The Sichuan-inspired Mapo Tofu Ramen (Regular: S$14.30, Large: S$16.30) featured their signature spicy miso broth with mapo tofu, minced meat, and a jammy egg. This looked intense, but was actually milder than the Nira Mazesoba. Flavour-wise, this was just okay, but it got a little too rich halfway through the bowl.

If you don’t want to be swimming in broth, get the Mapo Tofu Mazesoba (Regular: S$13.80, Large: S$15.80) instead.
This time, they’ve also come up with Singapore-exclusive, locally-inspired dishes, available for a limited time only.
Sadly, the SG60-special Bak Kut Teh Mazemen (S$14.80) was a letdown. It was peppery and garlicky, but the flavours didn’t really work well together. The singular pork rib was tender but lacked flavour, and the accompanying bowl of soup was disappointingly small.
The taste of the noodles also reminded us of those yellow noodles from hawker centres (you know what I’m talking about and let’s be honest, many of us avoid these like the plague).

Menya Kokoro has also launched a line of deep-fried sides, with the Chive Kakiage (S$5.20), Oyster Kakiage (S$6.20), and Ebi Kakiage (S$5.20). I’m not sure these are worth the buck, but at least they provided a satisfying crunch.

If you’re curious, however, snag their SG60 promotions. From 8 August 2025 to 9 August 2025, order any kakiage for just S$0.60 when you order any main. Additionally, diners can enjoy the new Butter Shoyu Clam at S$6 (U.P. S$8.20).
Do note that this SG60 promotion is only valid for dine-in, and is limited to one piece of kakiage with any main ordered, and one Butter Shoyu Clam per table.
As someone who prefers lighter flavours, I found all the noodle dishes to be a tad bit too salty. Honestly? I’d say skip the fusion dishes, and make a beeline for the original Japanese mazesoba. It is what they’re known for, after all.
Will you be trying out Menya Kokoro’s limited fusion dishes, or just slurping up the OG mazesoba?
