Experience Singapore’s first ever haunted drive-thru at the notorious Kampong Wak Hassan

by

Many of us are no strangers to haunted houses in Singapore, especially when Halloween season rolls around — there’s USS’ Halloween Horror Nights, or you might even remember Sentosa Spooktacular as well as Night Safari’s Halloween Horrors from the early 2010s.

For something a little different this year, check out one of Singapore’s first ever haunted drive-thruMomok Drive-Thru taking place at Kampong Wak Hassan (an area notorious for its spine-chilling stories of creepy children’s laughter, lingering spirits, as well as never ending roads).

For those who aren’t familiar with the term, ‘momok’ is basically a Malay slang term for something along the lines of a boogeyman, usually used by parents to scare their children into behaving.

Aside from the adrenaline rush you’re guaranteed to get at this new scare experience, you’ll also be able to learn about how these local ghosts and monsters (like the infamous pontianak, pochong, and more) came to be, through the eerie folk tales in the area.

While it’s a drive-thru, there are also some walkable areas in which thrillseekers can forgo the comfort and security of their cars for an even bigger scare — completed with special audio and visual effects as well as scare actors that’ll really set the spooky mood.

When you think you’ve had enough scares in, head on over to the food trucks to grab a bite and recharge (being brave can be exhausting!). If you need some retail therapy to calm your nerves, there will also be retail vendors on site.

The Momok Drive-Thru will be taking place from 27 October (Thursday) to 31 October 2022 (Monday), and more details will be released from 1 September (Thursday) on their Facebook page — keep an eye out if you don’t want to miss out on this unique scare event!
