With blind boxes taking the world by storm, it was only a matter of time before Singapore got its very own ‘blind box’ cafe. That moment has finally arrived, as Suntec City is now home to this unique concept, where you can indulge in bingsu and a wide variety of desserts while uncovering surprises.
At Nana & Friends Cafe, you’ll be greeted by a lineup of charming locally-based characters, with each bingsu order accompanied by an adorable plushie surprise. Ordering is a breeze, thanks to the expertise of EVO Amusement — the same folks behind the popular Pokémon Ga-Olé arcade machines.
Here’s how it works: simply choose your desired bingsu flavour (more on that in a bit!) at the ordering kiosk or counter. When your number is called, make your way to the giant vending machine and press the big, heart-shaped button. Voila! Out comes your bingsu and a surprise plushie to sweeten the deal.
Currently, the lineup features five adorable characters: Nana (pink), Moogie the cow (yellow), Bunbun the rabbit (purple), Fluff the duck (yellow), and Grumbo the frog (green). And the fun doesn’t stop there — new characters will be joining the gang soon, so keep an eye out!
So, what are the bingsu flavours you can choose from? There are six to choose from: Mango (S$18), Pineapple (S$18), Matcha (S$18), Strawberry (S$18), Chocolate Caramel (S$18), and Jiuxian (S$18). For the last one, it’s essentially a combination of sweet potato and yam balls, mixed with grass jelly and aiyu jelly, and topped with gula melaka sauce and red bean paste.
That’s not all. The menu also features an array of desserts, with the standout being the Mochi Waffle (S$4 each). Take your waffle experience up a notch with their delectable spreads, like Pistachio Praline (a nod to the viral Dubai chocolate), Matcha, and Cream Cheese.
Another option is the Mini Tarts (S$5 each) — available in flavours including Dark Chocolate, Pistachio Raspberry, Peanut Butter Coffee, and Earl Grey Lime.
Craving something savoury instead? Their Savoury Quiches (S$13 each) are right up your alley, featuring delicious options like Salmon & Spinach, Chicken, Seafood, and Mushroom.
Wash them all down with drinks like Ice Honey Lemon Soda (S$6), Ice Raspberry Lemonade (S$6.50), and Flat White Coffee (S$6).
While it might not be my go-to spot for a full-fledged brunch, it’s clear that the food isn’t the main attraction here. Ultimately, it’s the perfect place to relax after a day of shopping or snag an adorable new plushie to add to your collection.
