Peppa Pig fans, get ready to oink with excitement because the world’s largest Peppa Pig Outdoor Theme Park is set to open in Shanghai in 2027!
With the Peppa Pig franchise still going strong (especially after the baby #3 announcement), this new mega-park is shaping up to be a fantastic getaway for families and fans alike.
The Peppa Pig Outdoor Theme Park will be located on Changxing Island in the Chongming district of Shanghai. If you’re wondering how far that is, it’s about 40km from Shanghai’s city centre and a 40-minute drive from Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
For those traveling from Singapore, direct flights to Shanghai start from just S$282 for a round trip, with flight times averaging around 5.5 hours. So, getting there should be a breeze (it’s time to start saving up).
When completed, the park will span a whopping 48 acres — just a little smaller than Universal Studios Singapore. This also makes this Hasbro’s first-ever Peppa Pig outdoor theme park in Asia and the largest Peppa Pig theme park in the world.
While official details are still under wraps, we can make some educated guesses based on existing Peppa Pig parks in the UK and US. If those are anything to go by, Shanghai’s Peppa Pig Outdoor Theme Park will likely focus on kid-friendly, family-oriented attractions rather than high-speed thrill rides (admin is slightly disappointed).
So, while you might not find adrenaline-pumping rollercoasters, you can expect a fun, immersive experience. The theme park will feature themed areas like Grandpa Pig’s Garden and George Pig’s Dinosaur Play Space. And, since it’s catered to the little ones, there will be mellow rides perfect for families.
There will be live Peppa Pig character shows and a Peppa Pig-themed hotel designed to accommodate three-generation families (so even ahma and ahgong can join the fun okay!).
