With two outlets already in Kuala Lumpur, it was only a matter of time before Tsutaya Bookstore made its way to Johor Bahru — a hotspot for us Singaporeans on weekend getaways. Tsutaya Bookstore JB outlet is conveniently located at AEON Mall Tebrau City, just a quick 15-minute drive from the checkpoint.
Here, you’ll find walls upon walls of books covering every genre imaginable — graphic novels, mangas, educational reads, magazines, and more. Fiction and non-fiction are neatly organised by topics, genres, and languages.
For example, there’s a dedicated section for beloved books like the Harry Potter series, along with J.K. Rowling’s autobiography. This makes it easy and convenient for fans to find everything they’re looking for.
Another section is pretty much a Studio Ghibli heaven, featuring not only books on your favourite films like Howl’s Moving Castle and Spirited Away but also a treasure trove of merchandise — think plushies, stationeries, mugs, and much more!
In fact, Tsutaya Bookstore is more like a multi-concept wonderland (and we all know how popular those are these days). Alongside books, you’ll find a wide range of lifestyle goodies — everything from beauty products like haircare and perfume to baby essentials, arts and crafts supplies, home decor, and much more!
Remember how I mentioned Tsutaya’s immersive reading experience? That’s because you can pick up a book and relax on one of the many cosy seats, benches, or study desks scattered throughout the store.
If you’d like to pair your reads with a cup of joe, you can do so as well at its in-house cafe. With its minimalist design, the cafe is surprisingly spacious yet still maintains a cosy and intimate vibe.
On the menu includes specialty drip coffee, ice-blended beverages, matcha, and cakes.
