Be it croffles and Korean-style bingsu, unique Asian-inspired gelato, or vegan ice cream cocktails, if there’s one thing Ang Mo Kio has no shortage of, it’s ice cream.
If you’re in need of a scoop of good luck with a sprinkle of prosperity, you might wanna head over to Wonders, a themed ice cream cafe that combines Singaporeans’ love for the sweet treat and mahjong.
Tucked away in a residential area, Wonders is a quirky mahjong-themed ice cream cafe that occupies a small shop space along Blk 128 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.
The interior is decked out in mahjong-themed elements, most notably, the Chinese character 發 (fā, part of the phrase”fā cái“, or “get rich” ), which appears on coasters, frames, and even a stylistic neon sign.
Even the ice cream flavours here are not spared the mahjong treatment, all of which are named after terminology (and puns) used in the game.
You can look forward to fun flavours like Roasted Pistachio (门青), Gianduja Chocolate (大四喜), Chrysanthemum, Honey, Cacao Nibs (花上), and White Chocolate, Almonds & Nori (十三幺), as well as a rotating menu of seasonal offerings (be sure to keep a lookout for the upcoming Chinese New Year flavour!).
All ice cream is priced from S$4.20 for a single scoop, with an additional S$1 and S$2 for Premium and Gourmet flavours respectively.
Although you can definitely enjoy your ice cream of choice in a Cone (S$1.30), why not take it up a notch with Belgian Waffles (S$6) or even Pandan Mochi Waffles (S$6), with its crisp exterior and soft, subtly chewy insides?
But that’s not all — it’s very hard to resist speciality coffee in the form of a White (S$4.20) or Mocha (S$4.80), especially when it comes emblazoned with unique coffee art (I too want my coffee to bring me wealth).
