Popular sourdough pizza and sandwich cafe, Yeast Side, opens its fourth outlet at myVillage, Serangoon Garden.
The brand is best known for its housemade focaccia sandwiches (only served till 2pm), made with Italy’s finest milled wheat flours.
Some of their best-selling sandwiches include the Bestside Sandwich (S$15) with maple bacon egg mayo and a fried onion ring, as well as Mr Crabs (S$18), filled with battered crab, egg and handmade slaw.
Not so much of a sandwich person? No worries, we’ve got your back!
The four-outlet cafe’s 24 hours slow-fermented sourdough pizzas are baked in a stone oven for their signature chewy, blistered crust.
The classic Foursome with Honey (S$21), a salty-sweet combination of four cheeses and wildflower honey, is a must-try.
I really enjoyed how the saltiness of the four different cheeses blended with the candied taste of the honey.
Carbonara (S$22), a pizza with a rich, meaty stack of salami, beef sausage, mozzarella and cheddar comes layered over their house-crafted tomato sauce and a swirl of tzatziki sauce.
Personally, the Carbonara pizza tasted like the nostalgic Mamee snack, which took me down the memory lane. Aside from that, it is not something I would like on a pizza.
For sides, the Mentaiko Mac & Cheese (S$19) has substantial (real) crab meat, tobiko and bonito flakes which adds the umami kick to win the top spot in my heart.
The saltiness of the bonito flakes, sweetness of the crab meat paired with the explosive crunch of the tobiko is definitely something I will keep coming back for.
Both the earl grey tea and lychee harmonise well in the Earl Grey Lychee Cold Brew Tea (S$6.50). If you like something mild and calming, this should be in your top list. We also got the Iced Matcha by Niko Neko (S$7.50).
As someone who makes my own matcha at home and isn’t stingy on the amount of matcha powder I use, I must say that I have finally found a matcha place that suits my palate.
For all my like-minded neophiles, the Serangoon Garden outlet has an exclusive Chicken Romesco (S$24) pizza, and Honey Miso Prawn sandwich (S$16). Unfortunately, we were unable to get a taste of it, but do let us know how it tastes if you do try!
Yeast Side aims for customers to feel at home with the intentionally warm and comforting furnishing at their newest outlet, each detail aims at inviting guests to dawdle and revisit.
Is Yeast Side now the best side in your heart?
