Little did we know, there’s a Notre-Dame exhibition right here in Singapore we can explore, complete with the famous insta-worthy South Rose stained glass window at (RE)BIRTHS: Notre-Dame de Paris.
Looking forward to travelling but not making your way to Paris just yet? Here’s how you can travel to Paris in Singapore, and get a glimpse of this famous Parisian cathedral – also famed for being a French Gothic architectural masterpiece.
Located at Alliance Française, the French cultural center located at Sarkies Road, make your way to the exhibition featuring the cathedral’s construction and restorations.
From traversing through time and exploring the history of Notre-Dame and understanding how it became a symbol of France through the centuries, to enjoying a unique VR tour of the cathedral that includes views inaccessible to the public even if you’re there in person…
This is one interesting activity if you’d like to explore something a little different from the usual attractions we have in Singapore.
There’s also a huge 1:100 scaled model of the cathedral that gives you an up close look into the intricate details from 360º!
But of course, one main beautiful highlight of the exhibition has to be the unmissable South Rose stained glass window (also known as the midday rose). The original window at Notre-Dame was a gift from King Louis IX of France, constructed in 1260 (more than a millenia ago!).
Apart from the Notre-Dame exhibition, there are other exhibitions and even French film screenings (with english subtitles) to experience.
So if you’re feeling up for a trip to France but can’t quite make it physically there yet – head over to Alliance Française and spend some time immersing yourself in everything French!
