This cafe in Johor Bahru lets you pet adorable baby capybaras with cafe fare like mentaiko tamagoyaki sando, viral jiggly pudding & more for just S$4.90

Capybara, capybara, capybara, capybara, capybara” — By now you probably would have heard of the capybara song all over your TikTok FYP and seen the recent hype around these adorable creatures.

There’s just something about the constant side-eye coupled with its aloof attitude that just gets me cracking up — I can definitely see why the public loves them so much.

Well, good news, because there is a capybara cafe to visit and no I’m not talking about the one in Tokyo (it’s actually a lot closer than you think).

Capyba Cafe is JB’s first capybara cafe located in Skudai just 30 minutes away from the checkpoint.

We all know that JB has a wide variety of animal cafes including adorable doggos, chonky cats, and even fluffy ducks so I’m not surprised that a capybara cafe has made its way into Malaysia.

This cafe dons a minimalist interior decked with white furnishings and a few capybara posters scattered around. It’s easy to see why they have kept the decor simple as the real stars of the show are actually nestled at the back.

You can look forward to meeting two adorable capybaras just waiting to be greeted by you.

Although the cuddly creatures have their own food and water readily available in their pen, you can always ask the staff for small treats like carrots to earn extra cuddles.

Food-wise, you would be able to find the usual cafe fare just like other places including the likes of mains, bagels, sandos as well as sides to share.

Get the Smoked Duck Aglio Olio (S$6.86, RM23.90) which comprises savoury-sweet duck breast with al dente spaghetti. Given the hearty portion of the dish, I’d say it’s good for sharing amongst the table.

But if you wanna save your stomach to continue cafe hopping later on, get the smaller bites like the Tamago Sando (S$4.88, RM17) or Mentaiko Tamagoyaki Sando (S$5.45, RM19) with crispy katsu cutlet sandwiched and loads of mentaiko sauce.

Did you know that you can get the viral jiggly Pudding (S$4.59, RM16) here as well? The pudding comes in the form of a capybara (duh) and it’s too adorable to eat. This chocolate-flavoured pudding has a light and airy mousse texture accompanied with fresh blueberries and strawberries for a sour twang.

All that food must make you thirsty so why not get the Rose Latte (S$4.30, RM15) which comes with a cute little drawing of the capybara? Alternatively, non-coffee drinkers can get the Peach Mango or Green Grape Tea for just S$4.53 (RM15.80) each.

I know how hard it must be to say goodbye to the capybaras at the end of the day so consider stopping by the merchandise section. There are capybara-themed water bottles, tumblers, and plushies of different designs to choose from.

Plus, this cafe is just a stone’s throw away from As Clouds Cafe so you can always meet the cute alpacas afterwards. Be it a day or weekend trip to JB, Capyba Cafe sounds like a great way to destress after working so hard all week.

Are you ready to spend a capy-barvelous time at Capyba Cafe?
