Climb the clock tower at Victoria Theatre for a different view of the city

by Vera

Ever wondered what kind of views the hunchback of Notre Dame must’ve been getting from his bell tower? No? Just me? Alright anyway, for those who are open to quite literally a different perspective, there’s a new Clock Tower Climb at Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall that’ll present a different view of the island-city as we know it.

Over a hundred steps to the top

Throw on some comfortable walking gear because as The Straits Times reports, it takes a 106 steps and two cat ladders to get to the top. Apart from huffing and puffing your way up, be prepared to engage all fours as you ascend the tower on the two cat ladders, which might be slightly unnerving for those with acrophobia, but shouldn’t put a halt in your plans if that’s what you’re worried about.

Safety gear

As the total weight of the bells amount to about 5000kg, visitors are required to don safety helmets on the tour, and slippers are not allowed as appropriate footwear either. So amidst all the never-before-seen pictures and OOTDs you’ll be taking here, be prepared to incorporate a safety helmet into your outfit of the day too.

54-metre-tall

Just how high will 106 steps and two ladders take you? It seems that 54 metres is your answer, at least in the context of this clock tower climb. The tower is sandwiched between both the Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall, so you’ll be quite literally immersed in history.

Historical lessons

Speaking of history, you can expect to learn quite a fair bit about the 115-year-old structure and the stories it has to tell too. Think of the trip as a handy two-in-one — an interesting space to explore and snap pictures at as well as a historical site brimming with educational opportunities for an afternoon.
