This hawker centre stall in Singapore is shaking up the game with unique cafe-style drinks like Kopi Fizz, Maple Hojicha, craft beers and more from S$1.30 onwards

Matcha at a hawker centre? That’s almost unheard of… until now.

Enter Cornershop, a cosy little hidden spot serving up cafe-style drinks you’d never expect to find in a hawker centre. Seriously, where else are you going to get Strawberry Matcha, Kopi Fizz, and even craft beers in a place like this?

Tucked away in 50A Marine Terrace Market, this stall is just a three-minute walk from Marine Terrace MRT. Though, you may have some difficulty spotting it (hint: it’s right at the corner because… it’s a cornershop).

This tiny stall has taken social media by storm with its surprisingly extensive menu.

We’re talking 100% Nanyang roasted coffee, kombucha, matcha, and more. They sell out fast, so if you want to get your hands on their drinks, be there between 10am and 2pm, Wednesday to Sunday (highly recommended to go in the earlier hours).

Of course, their Strawberry Matcha (S$7) is the star of the show.

A perfect blend of bittersweet ceremonial-grade matcha and sweet, fruity strawberry puree, it’s no surprise this drink has gained a cult following. If you love a good matcha, this one’s worth trying.

For something more earthy and comforting, the Maple Hojicha (S$5.50 for hot, S$6 for iced) is a must-try. The deep-roasted tea flavour pairs beautifully with the subtle sweetness of maple syrup.

Now, let’s talk about their kopi drinks because this isn’t your regular kopi stall.

The Kopi Latte (S$2.50) ditches condensed and evaporated milk for freshly steamed frothy milk. It’s a stronger, less sweet take on a latte, perfect for those who like their coffee bold.

Then there’s the Kopi Fizz (S$4), a refreshing blend of kopi cold brew and tonic water, finished with a lemon slice for an extra zesty kick. It’s like a fun, fizzy twist on kopi o kosong. 

Or, opt for the matcha version, the Matcha Fizz (S$5).

With such a unique lineup, Cornershop is shaking up the hawker centre game. Honestly, it’s so intriguing that I might just have to make the trip down (even if it’s a little out of the way).
