Kai Siam dishes up unique Muslim-friendly Thai fusion fare like Thai lok lok, crispy chicken spaghetti & more

It’s that time of the year when I crave nothing but comfort food, especially those of the spicy, piping hot, or deep-fried variety.

If you feel the same and want to explore an alternative taste of Thailand, look no further than Kai Siam in Woodlands.

Tucked away in Woodlands Industrial Park, the stall, which opened in November 2022, specialises in Thai-Western fusion cuisine whipped up by Thai chefs. All ingredients and condiments used are halal, making the food here Muslim-friendly, but the stall itself is not halal-certified (yet).

Homemade rich and creamy Thai curry sauces (Green, Red, Creamy Tom Yum, and Northern Thai), which come in varying spice levels, take centre stage here. You can enjoy ’em with the signature Thai Crispy Chicken Rice (from S$5.90) or Thai Crispy Chicken Spaghetti (S$6.50), depending on which carb you prefer.

Opt for the Thai Crispy Chicken Rice that comes with a fried egg and greens, to be slathered in the aforementioned Thai curry sauces, or go for the fusion flavours (S$5.50), which include the likes of Lemon Cream, BBQ, Korean Sauce, and even Cheese.

There’s even a Thai Spicy Chicken (Larb) version, a dish inspired by the iconic Thai salad with minced meat and fragrant herbs, for those who want to spice up their lives even more.

You can also find an assortment of snacks like Fried Banana (S$4), French Fries (S$3.50) tossed in flavoured powders (like Tom Yum, Nori Seaweed, and Mala), and Thai Lok Lok Mixed (S$5) comprising fried sausages, crabsticks, spicy Thai fishcakes, and more.

Kai Siam also does delivery and bulk (corporate) orders, so hit them up if you need boxes of Thai fusion comfort food for an upcoming party or large group gathering!

It looks like we’ll be able to go on a Thai food trail around Woodlands very soon.
