Craving mochi ice cream? Try Kane Mochi’s signature flavours like Chocolate, Durian, and more

When it comes to desserts, we’ve covered yoghurt, ice cream, and even waffles to try. However, we’ve rediscovered an old favourite spot of ours that offers mochi ice cream.

Don’t be mistaken, it’s not either mochi or ice cream; it’s both mochi and ice cream, a speciality the Halal-certified Kane Mochi is known for.

Originating from Bangkok in 2008, Kane Mochi rapidly became popular in 2015 when it was first launched at the Bugis+ Link Bridge. The location was convenient for anyone who was window shopping in Bugis+ and Bugis Junction malls.

Then, during the COVID-19 era, it rose to popularity among Singaporeans who were craving desserts amidst the dread and uncertainty of the pandemic. This led to Kane-Mochi establishing its second outlet in Jewel Changi Airport, where travellers and tourists can also indulge in this unique, sweet treat.

What makes Kane Mochi different from other mochi or ice cream spots? It’s their clever innovation of combining two desserts into one mouthful of sinful sweetness. Another term for this creation is daifuku, where Japanese mochi is filled with premium ice cream flavours, and Kane Mochi is an expert at it.

They offer a multitude of daifuku flavours to choose from, split into three different categories—classic, premium, and exclusive

The classic flavours like Chocolate, Strawberry, Milk, and even Korean Banana Milk go for S$3.30 each, while the premium flavours like Cookies & Cream, Brown Sugar Milk Tea, Taro, and even Matcha are priced at S$3.30. As of now, the only exclusive flavour that they’re offering is Durian, which goes for S$3.70

If you’re in a peckish mood, then it’s ideal to order one daifuku, served on a stick. The best way to enjoy it is by savouring it in one bite. Unless you’re like us and prefer to have more choices and varieties for sharing, then you may opt for the Mix and Match classics.

There are a few packages to take note of, ranging from mixing three flavours for S$7.90 to going all out and mixing 12 flavours, which costs S$28.90. Another thing about the Mix and Match classics that we like is that they’ll cut up the daifuku into smaller bite sizes, making it ideal for sharing among friends.
