LOST SG launches five uniquely themed rooms including a horror room, a “prison break” experience, treasure hunting & more

Think fast: if you were ever trapped in an escape room, who would you want to be stuck with?

Escape rooms are great fun, with the right company, of course. It’s a great bonding activity for friends, colleagues, and even family as it puts your skills, intelligence, wits and more to the test.

If you’re looking for a new challenge to put your relationship to the test, LOST SG is right up your alley. You might have heard of them before from their former location at Peace Centre. This time, they’re back in their new location at GR.iD mall with five new concepts of varying levels of difficulty that will really put you on the spot.

The first of the five new concepts is the Alcatraz 2.0, which is a prison-themed concept — if you’ve ever wanted to do your own prison break, here’s your chance. The puzzles in this room are not the most difficult ones to solve, but it does require a lot of analytical thinking and teamwork — emphasis on teamwork.

During the first stage of the prison break exercise, your team will be split into two rooms. Both teams will be given different resources which will come in handy in order for you to get out of jail. Pro tip: just stay calm and explore all the corners in the room.

Don’t worry, once you’ve gotten out of your jail cells, you will be reunited once again and the game carries on from there.

Honestly, as daunting as it might sound to be separated, it actually isn’t as bad as I thought. In fact, being separated was kinda fun. Although, depending on the cooperation of your team members, you might be stuck at this stage for a while. Just remember that you only have 60 minutes on the clock to make your escape, so time is of the essence here.

For the thrill-seekers and the horror lovers, this second concept is definitely the room for you. Titled Aokigahara 2.0, this room is actually based off the real suicide forest in Japan, and yes, you guessed it, it is a horror concept. So if you have friends who are afraid of anything horror related, maybe don’t go for this room.

The game starts in total darkness but in subsequent stages, the room is mostly lit in dimred lights. I will say that the creators did an excellent job in bringing out the air of eeriness in the room. Armed with a little lamp, your task is to figure out the correct ritual to get yourselves out of the forest.

As with everything horror related, you can expect some very well-executed jump scares in here, so consider yourself warned. One thing that really gave us the creeps was reading the diary of the little girl. There are two different endings —  the kind ending, or the cursed ending — depending on your luck.

The hardest room among the five is the Castiglione 2.0. My toxic trait is believing that we’re smart enough to make it out in an hour (we did not). Pro tip: you might wanna bring friends who can read Chinese for this game.

Your mission here is to recover the 12 zodiac heads and escape the castle. The catch is, you will need to be really observant and notice patterns. Some physical strength may also be required here — hint hint.

If you really wanna succeed in this room, you might wanna pay attention to every single little detail you see in the room and on the clues.

The other two concepts ay LOST SG are Exodus 2.0 and Mausoleum 2.0. The latter  is probably the most beginner-friendly room of all the five rooms. The clues here are mostly related to observing and matching patterns so make sure you keep your eyes opened. You may or may not be required to use some simple Chinese skills here — just a heads up.

Price-wise, it’s S$23.90 per pax during off-peak hours from 11am to 5.30pm on weekdays, and S$29.90 per pax during peak hours from 5.45pm onwards and on weekends

I actually had so much fun solving the puzzles and trying to escape the rooms. I will definitely be back to give the other rooms a go. If you’re looking for something to test the strength of your friendship, you know where to head down to!

Which room do you think you can escape from?
