I wouldn’t call myself a die-hard gamer but my first taste of go-karting came from playing ‘Super Mario Kart.’ Sure, it’s a retro classic but it’s stood the test of time. Even today, it’s still one of the best games out there and a fun way to dip your toes into the world of racing.
Online racing, that is. In terms of actual racing, I’m sure I’m like 90% of other Singaporeans when I say that my first real go-karting experience was at a certain Southern island. While the experience was no doubt fun, I can’t pretend that the tickets come cheap.
Fortunately, Malaysia has our backs when we’re looking to score some great deals and go-karting is no exception! Heck, it may even be better as their go-karting circuit is Asia’s longest!
LYL International Karting Circuit is located within Monkeys Canopy Resort in Kajang. It’s a little out of the way, requiring a 30-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur but you’re guaranteed a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle.
The circuit stretches 1.5km, packed with 15 thrilling corners — including four chicanes and six high-speed straights for the ultimate racing experience. Just a heads-up: there’s an uphill section that’ll get your heart racing even more!
What sets LYL International Karting Circuit apart is their high-powered double-seater karts. While most tracks only offer solo rides, here you can race side-by-side with a friend or partner for double the fun.
However, before you hit the tracks, remember to don your safety gear. Bringing your own gear is recommended but if you don’t own one, you can rent a balaclava for RM8 (S$2.44), gloves for RM3 (S$0.91), or snag both for just RM10 (S$3.05).
