Snuggle up with the cutest felines at this capsule hotel 15 minutes away from Dotonbori station featuring an in-house cat cafe, a relaxing foot spa, and more

If you know me, you know I have a catastrophically soft spot for cats (not admin’s dogs side-eyeing her right now). And this is giving admin severe feline withdrawal.

Imagine this: a capsule hotel and a cat cafe rolled into one. That’s exactly what Neco Republic Osaka offers. Nestled in Japan, this purr-fectly unique establishment lets you snooze with felines frolicking just a paw’s reach away.

Capsule hotels are usually a no-frills, budget-friendly way to crash after a long day of adventuring. But at Neco Republic Osaka, you’re not just staying somewhere, you’re sharing your space with some of the cutest, whiskered residents on the planet (at least in admin’s opinion).

Rooms start at ¥20,182 (S$177.47) per night, and they’re well-maintained with soundproof partitions so you don’t have to worry about snoring neighbours.

After a long day of exploring, what’s better than winding down with some kitty therapy?

At the in-house cat cafe open daily from 12pm to 9pm, you can lounge, sip on a drink, and watch these adorable furballs go about their day.

For those allergic to cats (absolutely tragic), there’s a secure viewing area where you can admire the cuteness from a safe distance. But if cats make you nervous… maybe pick a different hotel because these felines rule the place.

If you’re not staying overnight, you can still pop by for quality cat time.

Weekdays go at ¥200 (S$1.76) per 10 minutes or ¥1,500 (S$13.18) per hour, which includes unlimited drinks. Weekends are slightly pricier at ¥250 (S$2.20) per 10 minutes or ¥1,800 (S$15.82) per hour, also with unlimited drinks.

But if you are a guest, you get a complimentary two-hour pass to the cat cafe.

Because this place is all about relaxation, there’s also a foot spa where you can soak your tired feet for ¥500 (S$4.30) for 10 minutes. This is inside the cat cafe, meaning a cat might just plop onto your lap while you unwind. Grab a pack of cat treats for ¥300 (S$2.64) and bribe them with love.

One of the coolest things about Neco Republic Osaka is that all the cats here are rescues waiting to be adopted. Your stay helps them get used to humans, making it easier for them to find their forever families. A portion of the hotel’s profits goes toward their food, medical care, and overall well-being.

Neco Republic Osaka is a 10-minute walk from Shinsaibashi Station, connecting you easily to the rest of the city. It’s also one stop away from Dotonbori or a 15-minute walk, so you can explore Osaka’s famous nightlife and food scene before retreating to your cat haven.

And for all my fellow midnight snackers, rejoice: there’s a Lawson convenience store right across the street. Because sometimes, nothing hits quite like a late-night onigiri run.
