The One Day Pilot Experience lets you go into the cockpit and get behind the wheel of your own flight around KL from just around S$300 (RM999) per pax.
The One Day Pilot Experience will take off from Subang Airport in Kuala Lumpur — the same place where all the rich people with their fancy private jets take off — and whiz you on a 30-minute flight There are two routes to choose from — Subang to Klang or Subang to KLCC. The plane is pretty small and only has space for three passengers and one pilot, so make sure to pick your passengers wisely.
During the course of the flight you’ll get the chance to take the wheel and be your own pilot (or co-pilot). And yes, no prior flying experience or pilot license is needed for this. That said, you’ll be accompanied by an actual professional pilot who will do most of the heavy lifting like navigating, taking off, and landing — I mean let’s be real, would you trust yourself to fly an aeroplane by yourself? Because I definitely do not.
As with every plane ride, you’re bound to experience a little bit of turbulence — depending on the weather conditions. Since the aircraft is slightly smaller, you might feel that the ride is much bumpier than usual. A friendly tip would be to take some motion sickness pills before the flight to make the journey more enjoyable.
The One Day Pilot Experience offers various packages. The most basic package is a simple 30-minute plane ride and costs around S$300 (RM999) per pax. If you would like to check out some sights from up in the sky, you can go for the 1 hour package which includes some sightseeing for around S$549.60 (RM1899) per pax.
While it is a little costly to embark on this experience, I’d say this is certainly an activity you have to add to your bucket list, especially if you have had dreams of becoming a pilot. This really does feel like a dream come true — even if it’s just for 30 minutes.
