Everyone has a favourite matcha spot or drink—while some may prefer standard matcha, others crave the trendy matcha strawberry drink.
In fact, one of our coworkers was unusual in that she only liked the milo matcha. No matter what kind of matcha you prefer, this new matcha spot will win your heart with its unique crafty twist.

Situated along Joo Chiat Road, you will stumble across an unsuspecting, small studio. Unbeknownst to strangers, this quaint spot doubles up as a matcha spot as well.
Known as the Studio Frond, this place offers a range of specialised matcha drinks as well as floral arrangement workshops for customers to take part in.

The studio prides itself on its specialised matcha, where they rate their Frond Matcha by two different grades.
The first grade of Matcha has its origins in Zhejiang Province, China. Meanwhile, the second-grade has its matcha from Uji, Kyoto, in Japan.
Whereas for Frond Hojicha, it’s only available as a standalone grade from Fukuoka prefecture, also in Japan.
Each grade has unique processing and tasting notes that may appeal to different tastes.

In terms of their beverages, they have an assortment of bases such as Usucha Tea, Latte, Pink Coconut, White Corn, Miso Butterscotch, and Black Sesame Cloud.
Depending on your preferred base and Matcha or Hojicha grade, the prices can go as low as S$6 or as steep as S$11. And upon request, you can enjoy your drink either hot or sweetened!

If you are lactose intolerant, don’t worry! Studio Frond also offers non-dairy milk options like oat and soy milk. Do take note that you may need to pay an additional S$1 for either non-dairy option.
Or you can skip the matcha and hojicha options and opt for their Cold Brew (S$6) or Iced Pour-Over (S$7) as well.

Hope you’ve got green fingers, because the highlight isn’t the drink; it’s creating your very own Frond Botanical Bar (S$15)!
All you need to do is select your flowers from the different options of Spider Chrysanthemum, Anthurium, Billy Button, and many more before collecting your very own botanical kit.
Don’t stress about the outcome—the fun lies in the process of creating your little bouquet to go along with your drink.

Studio Frond operates solely on the weekends, from 9am to 7pm. Be sure to drag your floral and matcha friends; they are in for a real good treat!
