Good news — you’ve got a new spot to hit up for the next two weekends and it’s a pretty exciting one. It’s time to grab your sunscreens as you’re heading to the beach!

From 13 to 15 September and 20 to 22 September 2024, Palawan Green at Sentosa has been transformed to host Singapore’s largest food truck event — Savour Park. It’s free entry, so feel free to pop by even if you’re just around the corner.

You’ll find over 11 food trucks, all dishing out unique eats to satisfy your cravings and curiosity.

Get in the mood with some alcohol at Clumzy Plumzy. This local-based stall is the official house bar of the event, so they’ll handle all your alcoholic needs here.

The Clumzy Plumzy Sour Plum Vodka is their signature, which is served as a slushy form (S$12). Sweet, zesty and refreshing, what’s not to love about it when you’re walking about in the tropical heat?

However, if you want to keep things tamed, you can cool down with coffee mocktails from Black Sugar. This popular Hong Kong coffee chain makes an appearance on our shores with a range of unique concoctions like Citrus Breeze (S$10) that’s a citrus-y take on the classic Yin Yang.

Food-wise, you can’t miss the IG-worthy Cheese Rainbow Toast (S$7). Order it alongside the viral Jelly Ball (S$4 per stick) In fact, everything offered at Cheezuto is worthy of the ‘gram as they’re colourful and aesthetically cute.

Another stall you should pay a visit to is SOHTT. They’re not halal-certified but there’s no pork or lard. I especially like their Mochi Croffle (S$12 for three), which I opted for the Nutella, Cinnamon Sugar, and Plain flavours.

Their Sushi Tacos deserve a shoutout too, available in five flavours: Sukiyaki Beef (S$8), Mentaiko Crab (S$8), Teriyaki Unagi (S$8), Teriyaki Scallop (S$10), and Lobster Salad (S$10).

Let’s be real — we all love bubble tea and luckily, you can get your fix right here. Try some unique flavours like Watermelon Yakult (S$5), which I paired with Honey Mochi for an extra S$1.80.

If you’re feeling really famished, tuck into charcoal bun burgers and cheesy mac and cheese at Ashes Burnnit. This Muslim-owned establishment needs no introduction as they already have multiple locations throughout Singapore.

Other stalls at Savour Park include Pakini with their Italian-inspired dishes, CONED with artisanal pizzas, and Kwazy Korndog for Korean corndogs with a local twist.

Aside from food, you can also take part in a number of activities, such as the joy rides. If you’ve ever dreamed of sitting in a vintage car, now’s your chance as you can hop into a 1935 Austin Seven Ruby or a classic Land Rover.

Dogs can even accompany you on your rides if you so wish!

Fun fact: Queen Elizabeth owns the same Land Rover for her personal use. How cool.

At 7.30pm, you can dig into your treats while catching the Sunset Cinema. I recommend reserving your lounge chair for the best movie-watching experience (this is the time to embrace your kiasu side).

Of course, no event is complete without a photobooth. Snap your selfies in a vintage Volkswagen Kombi at the Kombi Photobooth by Alternate VP. You’ll get to choose from a wide variety of quirky props and backdrops.

If you come early, your prints will even come free. It’s only limited to the first 100 prints though, so fastest fingers first!

There are also hands-on workshops like Jagua Ink Services for tattoos and TAROT reading by Jitui (S$18 onwards), as well as Japanese-inspired lifestyle merchandise from CHUMS.

Since Savour Park takes place from 3pm to 10pm, remember to take your phones out to capture the beautiful sunset views (you’re beside the beach anyways!).

After a long seven year break, The Republic of Singapore Air Force’s (RSAF) Open House is back, bigger and better than before. Taking place on 9 and 10 September 2023 at Paya Lebar Air Base, the RSAF Open House this year will feature interactive exhibitions, live performances, aerial displays, familiarisation flights and more. Sounds like an exciting weekend plan right there! 

I’ve always loved watching the aerial displays during the National Day Parade. One of the most exciting — and the one I’m most excited for — is the jet scramble display. Two F-15SG jets will showcase an aerial strike tactic against a simulated ground threat. It’s not everyday that you get to witness the aircraft jetting off into action, so you’ll definitely not want to miss out on this opportunity. 

Another must-watch is the H225M Medium-Lift Helicopter. You’ll get to watch first-hand how it deploys troops at a combat scene to neutralise threats — how thrilling is that! Apart from watching the displays, lucky visitors who have successfully scored themselves a seat on the familiarisation flights will get to board the aircraft and enjoy a little joy ride in the Chinook helicopter and the Airbus A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT). 

Those who were unable to secure a seat on the flight, don’t fret. You’ll still get to explore the RSAF’s impressive fleet of aircraft. You can hop on board for a short tour around the cockpit for selected jets too — so really, not all is lost. 

The fleet of aircraft on display include the Upgraded F-16C Multi-Role Fighter Jet, AH-64D Attack Helicopter, C-130 Hercules Transport Aircraft, S-70B Seahawk Naval Helicopter, and more. 

Much like how the F-15SGs help to refuel the Airbus A330 , you’re gonna need something to refuel your energy. The open house will also feature several food trucks as well as some F&B options available around the main fairground — don’t worry guys, we promise they’ll be nicer than your cookhouse meals. 

Some gastronomical highlights include Miss Chardog, The Slurp Shack, Sofnade, Loco Loco, Whiskdom, Big Big Fries, Habibtea, KREAM, Gyuniku, Komma and so much more!

To add to the festivities, there will also be special musical performances by the Music & Drama Company, as well as the SAF Central Band. Remember to also stop by the carnival game booths to score some sweet prizes and also snap plenty of pics at the photo spots placed around the Air Base. 

If you are planning to pop by, do note that you are encouraged to take the free shuttle service available at 18 Tai Seng. Otherwise, you can also take the public transport or use private hire.
