With the holiday season coming up, there is never a shortage of cakes to indulge in to accompany the festivities. Sure, the classic log cakes and Bundt cakes do make for perfect choices but changing it up a little now and then keeps things exciting!

At first glance, KoKoRo Cakery is a quaint store that one might not throw a second glance at but this humble cakery is home to some of the best alcoholic cakes in Johor Bahru, having gone viral since their soft launch in April 2023

Their secret? The choice of premium ingredients.

KoKoRo Cakery makes sure to use only top tier ingredients such as special liquors from Japan, paired with Valrhona chocolate — a well-known premium chocolate manufacturer from France.

The bold idea of combining Japanese liquors and Valrhona chocolate is now the reason why their alcoholic cakes are absolutely decadent.

I’m already watering looking at the list of alcoholic cakes they have on their menu. Stay with me, it is only going to get better from here.

The Roku Gin White Snow (S$44, RM155) and Haku Vodka Black Forest (S$44.50, RM155) are classics that should be on your list of cakes to try! As the name suggests, the Roku Gin White Snow is infused with Roku Japanese Gin with Valrhona white chocolate. As you might have pictured it: a classic Black Forest with a ready amount of Haru Vodka

Does that not sound luxurious? That’s not all.

Fans of Lotus Biscoffs may rejoice with this next one. The Lotus Caramel Bliss Rum (S$55.10, RM185) is an exquisite heaven of the taste of Lotus biscuits alongside caramel and chocolate, soaked in Bacardi rum.

For those seasoned drinkers who enjoy a stronger taste of alcohol in their desserts like myself, I have been eyeing the Tiramisu (S$55.10, RM185). Infused with Haku vodka, Kahlua, and Bailey’s, this tiramisu cake is just every classy alcoholic’s dream.

Of course, we cannot go without the house special of KoKoRo Coffee Chocolate Mousse (S$55.10, RM185). Infused with Suntory Whisky Kakubin, this cake has a strong bitterness that is definitely not for beginners.

With all these delectable flavours, I know how difficult it is to just choose one. That’s where the 6-in-1 Alcoholic Slice Cake Set (S$55.10, RM185) comes in clutch. It has an assortment of all the above flavours in slices at the same price — definitely a steal!
