Got a soft spot for sourdough in all shapes, sizes, and forms?
Anyone who has visited this popular Muslim-owned bakery specialising in sourdough would be pleased to hear that Woodlands Sourdough has finally opened in the bustling Chinatown.
This charming hole-in-the-wall along Club Street is Woodlands Sourdough’s second outlet — the former home-based business, which opened its first brick-and-mortar store at Serene Centre (which eventually closed down), and then at Upper Thomson in 2019.
As always, all breads and pastries offered at this takeaway-only kiosk are naturally leavened with sourdough cultures using stone ground wheat grain flour.
Take your pick from rustic pastries like the Comte Cheesy Twist (S$4.50), Florentine Kouign Amann (S$5), and Chausson Aux Pommes (S$5), a delectable spiced apple pie pastry with autumnal flavours.
Also, don’t miss out on the Kardammummabullar Bun (S$4), a Swedish cardamon bun that will leave you feeling all warm and toasty.
But if you can’t get enough of the classics, you can also pick up a couple of the bakery’s signature sourdough loaves like Country or Whole Wheat/Heritage Wheat (S$8).
Drop by early if you want to snag a highly coveted Grilled Cheese Toastie (S$12), in all its crisp and gooey glory.
Alternatively, Woodlands Sourdough’s Toast Bar is still as reliable as ever — Nut Butter + Honey (S$5) is still the most popular option amongst customers both new and old.
You can also get your coffee fix, courtesy of Cata Coffee, here, with options like the usual Latte (from S$5), Cold Brew (S$5), and Espresso Tonic (S$6).
Some say Woodlands Sourdough has some of the best sourdough bakes in Singapore, so if you haven’t already gotten your hands on some, now’s the time!
