Hunting for the best dining deals is a dilemma faced by everyone (this writer is sadly one of them), especially when inflation has affected food costs too.

Thankfully, a mala restaurant has understood our predicament and came through with a promotion that’s just too good to pass up. I’m talking about free-flow, all-you-can-eat mala xiang guo for just $10 nett.

Xiao Man Niu Mala Xiang Guo is nothing new in the local mala scene and has multiple outlets throughout Singapore. However, their spot at Frasers Tower will no doubt see plenty of footfall in the coming days as that’s the only outlet hosting this promotion.

As long as you purchase any drink like their Homemade Barley (S$4.50) and follow their social pages, you can feel free to fill up your mala bowl to the brim without worrying about exceeding your budget.

Pick from five spice levels: ‘Bu La’ (Non Spicy), ‘Xiao La’ (Mild Spicy), ‘Zhong La’ (Medium or Normal Spicy), ‘Da La’ (Super Spicy) and ‘Mo Gui La’ (Monster Spicy).

When it comes to their selection of ingredients, you’ll find the usual fare here, such as beef, sausages, Chinese cabbage, enoki mushrooms, potato slices and quail eggs.

For a more filling meal, pile on the carbohydrates by grabbing some noodles or rice cakes that go so well with mala as they soak up all that saucy goodness.

I usually avoid seafood in my mala (they can be pricey, after all), but guess who made a beeline for the fish this time?

You can also add an extra S$3 to dress up your mala xiang guo with Wasabi Crispy Soy Skin or Salted Egg Crispy Fish Skin.

As someone who enjoys mala at least once a week, I think it’s safe to call myself a bona fide mala connoisseur. What I like about their mala xiang guo is that the Sichuan peppercorns provide just the right amount of tingle without overwhelming the overall flavours.

Some diners may find the mala sauce too salty, so it’ll be good to request less salt and oil for yours.

While it’s understandable why you’d want to use this opportunity to test how much you can eat, it’s also crucial to not pile your bowl unrealistically. Any food wasted is S$10 flying out of your wallet.

Do note to come down from 4pm onwards and dine in at the restaurant to enjoy the promotion. Keep track of your watch as the dining time is only an hour!

So, gather your friends and bring your appetite.

How much food do you think you can handle?
