Westies, assemble!

The brand-new Bukit Batok West Hawker Centre officially opened its doors on 19 March 2025, and it’s already shaping up to be a foodie paradise.

Just a short bus ride from Bukit Batok Bus Interchange, this hawker centre boasts 22 stalls serving everything from Chinese dumplings to Vietnamese banh mi and halal Western delights.

I’m always down for a crispy, toasty banh mi. So, Petit Saigon Vietnamese Street Food will definitely be my choice. Prices start at S$5.20, but if you’re feeling fancy, go for the Traditional Banh Mi (S$7.20), Beef Banh Mi (S$8.20), or Pork Banh Mi (S$6.20).

Their Beef Slice Pho (S$6.80) and Beef Special Pho (S$7.80) are perfect for a comforting meal. And if you’re in the mood for rice, the Grilled Chicken Rice (S$5.80) won’t disappoint!

If you’re after halal Western food that won’t break the bank, El Brasa is the spot.

Their Rustic Mushroom Soup (S$3) and Mentaiko French Fries (S$5) make for great starters, but the real stars are the mains. There’s Lamb Chop with Chilli Chicken Sausage (S$15.90) or the spicy, cheesy Samyang Prawn Pasta (S$9.90).

And I’ll always get a snack to go with it and what is better than a plate of hot piping dumplings? Then, you must check out Xian Yu Pan Fried Bun. Their Sheng Jian Bao (S$4.50 for three pieces) are crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and oh-so-satisfying.

If that’s not your cup of tea, check out Zha Jiang Noodles (S$4.50), Xiao Long Bao (S$5 for six pieces), Dry Prawn Wanton in Chilli Oil with Noodles (S$6.50), and Pork Wanton in Chilli Oil (S$5.50 for eight pieces).

If you know, you know.

Eng Kee Chicken Wing is famous for its crispy, golden-brown wings, and now you don’t have to travel far to get your fix (at least for Westies). Grab a few for a quick snack or pair them with rice for a full meal.

We all know who Munchi Pancake is right?

Honestly, this is one of my favourites. Known for their soft, fluffy filled pancakes and min jiang kueh, they offer flavours beyond the usual Peanut or Coconut.

Some unique flavours include Black Sesame, Biscoff, Hazelnut and more. Their Min Jiang Kueh costs between S$1.60 to S$2.50. You can also choose between Original, Charcoal, or Green Tea pancake skins for extra variety.
