But 2026’s summer movie season might change that. The line-up of films over the next two to three months just screams “save the theatres”. From superhero flicks to epic dramas to animated films, you’d be hard-pressed not to catch these blockbusters on the big screen.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu

Star Wars has been in an interesting state the past few years, to say the least. Ever since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and the franchise’s subsequent pivot towards the Disney+ streaming service, things have not been the same.

There were highlights, especially during the ‘stuck-at-home’ periods during the Covid-19 pandemic. Most Star Wars fans would remember fully online days at home, binging episodes of The Mandalorian and The Clone Wars. After the pandemic eased, series like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor and Ahsoka also continued to bring peak storytelling and fan-service to many.

But there was also some lacklustre content, such as The Book of Boba Fett and The Acolyte, which did not meet fan expectations. And the movie side of things has been especially quiet, without any Star Wars films released since 2019.

That just changed a few weeks ago, when Star Wars blasted back into theatres with The Mandalorian and Grogu. As the first Star Wars film in close to 7 years, this seems to be a movie worth going to the cinema for, especially as a family outing with kids. However, reviews we’ve seen have been mixed, so don’t go in expecting a masterpiece.

Masters of the Universe

If you grew up in the 80s, this would probably hit you with nostalgia. Masters of the Universe is based on the toy and media franchise by Mattel. If that company sounds familiar, it is because they are also the ones behind Barbie.

Even if you didn’t grow up in the 80s, you would probably have seen a meme or two Even if you didn’t grow up in the 80s, you would probably have seen a meme or two featuring characters like He-Man and Skeletor in recent years. 

Based on what we can tell from trailers, Masters of the Universe seems to be a fun popcorn flick that seasoned fans and newcomers alike can enjoy. We can’t wait to see if they retain some of that goofy tone the original animated series is known for.

The Furious

Genre: Action, martial arts
Release date: 11 June 2026

It’s not often these days that we get an action movie with engaging fight choreography and martial arts sequences. But just this year alone, we have a few to look forward to. Last month, Mortal Kombat II played in theatres, bringing another live-action adaptation of the video game series to the big screen.

Later on this year, Street Fighter, another beloved video game series, will also see its own movie adaptation released in cinemas. But fighting game enthusiasts are not the only ones who will be ‘blessed’ this year. If you’re a fan of classic Hong Kong action films, you will also be in for a treat this June.

The Furious tells the story of an unlikely duo who team up to track down their missing loved ones. Along the way, they have to use their martial arts abilities to fight against gangs and thugs. If you have seen the previews and teasers for this movie, you would know it is gritty and violent — definitely not a show for kids. But the action sequences and fight choreography look spectacular. 

As of the writing of this article, the film has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, so you could say our expectations are pretty high.

Disclosure Day

Genre: Science fiction
Release date: 11 June 2026

Aliens, UFOs, conspiracies. Do all these topics intrigue you? Then Disclosure Day will interest you. Directed by legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg, this science fiction film follows characters who are trying to expose the government’s cover-up of extraterrestrial secrets. The trailers for the movie suggest a mixture of mystery, thrill, and wonder.

The movie’s conceptualisation was actually inspired by a real-life 2017 New York Times article about the US Government’s secret UFO programme. This article sparked increased public interest in what the government knows about alien life, prompting many to join movements that advocate for authorities to ‘disclose’ and ‘declassify’ said information. Spielberg was inspired by this same article to work on a UFO film.

Now, we do not know if aliens are real. But what we do know is that Steven Spielberg is an ‘OG’ in blockbuster filmmaking and is known for directing many classic science fiction films. Just think about films like Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T., Jurassic Park, and War of the Worlds. You can see why we are so excited for another Spielberg-led sci-fi movie.

Toy Story 5

If you grew up on Toy Story, or watched the original trilogy before it came back for a fourth instalment, you would agree that Toy Story 3 was a perfect ending to the series. And though a lot of us probably still hold that opinion, it’s hard to ignore the potential that Toy Story 5 has.

Coming out on 18 June 2026, Toy Story 5’s main plot revolves around the introduction of the Lilypad character to the story. Based on Lilypad’s name and design, it is an obvious representation of tablets and screens that kids are so accustomed to in our modern world. How would the toys ‘of the past’ face up against this new toy?

​Rather than a pointless sequel, this could turn out to be a film that explores deeper perspectives on technology in a meaningful and fresh way. It could also relate to generations who grew up with toys and also those who grew up with technology.

Backrooms

Genre: Science fiction, horror
Release date: 18 June 2026

For those of you who are into creepypastas and horror web series on the Internet, you would be familiar with the Backrooms. This fictional alternate realm is usually portrayed as an endless series of hallways that lead into large, strange and empty rooms. These liminal spaces, with their pale yellow walls and carpets, constantly give off a sense of dread and unease.

What makes the Backrooms ‘creepy’ is not just its aesthetic, but the fact that whoever enters might never find their way out. Also, supernatural ‘entities’ reside within the Backrooms, making the turn of every corner full of tension.

Backrooms is directed by Kane Parsons in his directorial debut. The 21-year-old played a huge part in popularising the Backrooms on YouTube with his own web series a few years ago. 

It is simply impressive that he has now directed a full-length feature film by A24, starring actors like Chiwetel Ejiofor. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this film will be a success and we will see more films from the young director!

Supergirl

Genre: Superhero
Release date: 25 June 2026

If you’ve watched last year’s Superman, you would fall into one of either two camps. You either miss Henry Cavill’s Superman from the last decade, or you thoroughly enjoyed the new take by David Corenswet. 

To most of us, 2025’s Superman was a pleasant surprise and a fitting reboot to the live-action DC Universe (DCU). The giddy optimism, bright ‘comic book’ colours, hopeful soundtrack, and heroic moments formed a film that reminded us what a true superhero is. 

It was a great start to the new slate of DC films, which naturally made a lot of fans excited for the second film in the series — Supergirl. If this next film carries the same tone as its trailers and keeps the heart of a superhero film like Superman did, it would be a hit.

Also, it’ll be interesting to watch how Supergirl differs from Superman, especially since they essentially possess the same abilities but just come from wildly different upbringings.

The Odyssey

One of the greatest directors of our time, Christopher Nolan, is back. Known for The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, Interstellar, and most recently, Oppenheimer, Nolan’s films just always have this sense of grandeur and depth. 

With his distinct approach to filmmaking and focus on producing films worthy of big IMAX screens and sound systems, The Odyssey is primed to be a special cinematic experience.

For the uninitiated, The Odyssey is an adaptation of the famous literary work of the same name, and will transport audiences to Ancient Greece. The story follows the journeys of King Odysseus after the Trojan War. 

Beyond political conflicts and perilous adventures, there will also be mythical creatures like the Cyclops Polyphemus making their appearance. 

The cast of The Odyssey is also a huge draw, starring big names like Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, and more. With everything and everyone the film involves, this movie has the perfect recipe to be 2 hours 52 minutes of epic storytelling.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Genre: Superhero
Release date: 30 July 2026

This is probably one of the most anticipated films of 2026. Spider-Man: Brand New Day pulls us back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and continues Peter Parker’s story. If you watched 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, you would know that the webslinger has had to live life alone after the film’s events.

Brand New Day will catch us up on how he has managed to live in a world that does not remember him, while continuing his duty as one of New York City’s protectors. Based on what we know about the movie, Peter’s powers seem to be evolving, while a new threat arises. 

What makes this film even more exciting is that it features characters we haven’t seen Spidey interacting with before, such as The Punisher and Bruce Banner, a.k.a. The Hulk. There is also a possibility that it could set up the next Avengers film, which will be out in December. 

The MCU’s Peter Parker has been through a lot; so let’s hope he has a happier ending this time.

We got to explore most of these artworks at Marina Bay and Raffles Place ahead of the official opening on 5 June 2026, and found some pleasant surprises. If you’re wondering whether you should visit i Light Singapore 2026, we’ve got you covered.

Take a look at what we believe are the best photo spots and interactive installations at this year’s event, and decide for yourself if it’s worth heading down yourself.

Market Cycles

For context, we started our night walk at the Bayfront Event Space, located right outside the entrance to The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Heading in the direction of the Red Dot Design Museum, one of the first installations we came across was Market Cycles by Singaporeans Tan Mei Yee and Ng Choon Wee.

This is a simple light art installation, made up of stacks of plastic crates you would see daily at wet markets. Yet, due to the way it is positioned, it provides many different angles for photos. Whether you prefer to be seated or standing, among the crates or in front of them, be creative and take your best shot! 

Let’s Fish the Sun!

Near to Market Cycles, at the Lower Boardwalk area, is probably one of the most interesting installations at i Light Singapore 2026. Let’s Fish the Sun! by Chinese artist Wentao Wang presents a Sun-like luminous orb that you can lift and lower. 

Visitors can do this by reeling in a device that resembles a giant fishing rod. As you lower or elevate the ‘Sun’, its light will change between deep reds and warm oranges. 

We expect that there will be queues lined up for this interactive artwork — because how often do you get to play with something like that? Beyond the interesting mechanics, you can also take photos and videos from multiple angles to create that optical illusion of you ‘fishing the Sun’.  

Infinite Graffiti 

If you haven’t already noticed, interaction is a huge focus for this year’s i Light Singapore, which is very fitting for its movement-inspired theme. And nothing shows this more than Infinite Graffiti from Canada.

This digital canvas allows anyone to grab a spray can and produce their own graffiti art without any physical paint involved. The technology is not just genius but responsive — it feels like you’re holding an actual spray can, pressing down an actual nozzle, while the paint follows your every move without delay.

The best part? Because it’s digital, you can always undo your mistakes or choose different colours and paint textures. A few people can also paint at the same time, filling up the wall with diverse creations. Once you’re done, you can even scan a QR code to download and keep your artwork for memories. 

RESONORA

Here’s another one we thought was interesting. RESONORA by OSTUDIO and Dearista Nooria Kusuma from Indonesia is an interactive installation that makes use of sound. It picks up sounds from the environment and turns them into light.

There is also a loudspeaker you can speak (or shout) into. Watch as your voice changes the lights and colours of the installation in real time, then walk through it to take some close-up photos.  

Sliced

Out of all the installations, we would argue that this is the one with the most cinematic photo opportunities. Stepping into Sliced, created by Encor Studio from Switzerland, puts you in a scene straight out of Dune and Interstellar. 

When taken at the right angles, your photos will make you look like you walked through a passage of time or a mysterious pyramid structure. Don’t miss this immersive art installation that just oozes aura.

Barbershop Wonderland

Barbershop Wonderland is exactly what it sounds like. This long series of tall, colourful, bright barbershop poles is just screaming for you to take photos with it. The creation of Jeon Byeong Sam from South Korea, this mesmerising light installation is located at Clifford Square and is hard to miss.

But this is more than just a light display — we were surprised to discover it is interactive too! These barbershop lights are equipped with sensors that detect movement and only activate momentarily when someone passes by.

Naturally, many of us, adults and kids included, ran along the row of lights to watch it light up one by one. Seeing the lights follow us was a fun and satisfying experience, and you should definitely try it. In terms of ‘play’ factor, this is up there with Infinite Graffiti.

Arch Flower

The final light art installation on our journey was Arch Flower. This artwork by Cyril Lancelin from France is inspired by the tropical gardens of Singapore. From afar, it looks like a flower. Close-up, it’s a gradient world of pink and green.

This is the only i Light Singapore 2026 art piece located at Raffles Place, specifically Raffles Place Park, so make sure not to miss it if you want to check off every installation on the itinerary. 

It is slightly further from the rest of the installations and just requires a short walk to get to, but is also conveniently located right outside Raffles Place MRT station. Perfect for those of you who need to travel via the North-South Line or East-West Line.

For those of you who are artsy, here is something for you! The annual i Light Singapore, Asia’s leading light festival, is returning from 5 June 2026 to 28 June 2026. Movement is the theme of this year’s event, with many of the light displays showcasing the expressive power of motion. 

There will be interactive installations such as Let’s Fish the Sun!, which lets visitors “reel in” the sun and reverse the sunset. You can also check out local artworks such as Steps by Nawal Bte Azhar, a glowing staircase that symbolises Singapore’s progress as a Nation.

This illustrator is turning the universal experience of “doing nothing” into one of the most relatable art exhibits. Lazy Days with Dog & Frog by Niall Breen is debuting in Singapore from 29 May 2026 to 26 July 2026. The exhibition will take place at Heartware Store and Gallery, a cosy space tucked among the shophouses along Joo Chiat Road.

Children’s Festival

Children’s Festival featuring Disney’s Winnie the Pooh is taking place from 30 May 2026 to 21 June 2026 at Supertree Grove. The festival is themed around the iconic bear and his friends, celebrating 100 years of friendships, curiosity, kindness, and the simple joys of life. 

There will be numerous themed installations for kids to explore, play, and take photos at. The Hundred Acre Glide, for example, will allow kids to go on Singapore’s first Winnie the Pooh-themed zipline. Other installations inspired by the different characters include The Sweetest Drops, The Joyful Puddle, and The Brave Logs. 

There will also be carnival games, a retail pop-up, and a cafe pop-up during the weekends, as well as an inflatable march with music and dancing on Saturdays. Furthermore, throughout the festival, children under 12 can enter the Flower Dome for free.

If you live in the North-East area of Singapore, there’s good news for you. The Sports Arina (TSA) has recently opened its Jalan Kayu facility, bringing together a collection of spaces for different sports and activities in one hub.

What’s Open at TSA @ Jalan Kayu

Indoor padel courts

One of the first things you will notice when you step into TSA @ Jalan Kayu is a series of padel courts, easily recognised by their transparent ‘glass cages’. For those of you who want to expand your range of racket sports, perhaps it’s time to give this increasingly popular sport a go. 

Combining elements of tennis and squash, padel might potentially become the next craze in Singapore after pickleball. Its courts are pretty unique in their setup, which means they are not as common as other racket sport facilities in Singapore. So, these new courts at TSA @ Jalan Kayu are definitely a win, giving those of us who want to try or play the sport more often more locations to do so.

TSA @ Jalan Kayu’s padel courts are situated in a spacious, fully sheltered area. Big fans at the top and openings at the side allow maximum airflow, creating a cooling environment amidst long games. There are also comfortable seating areas where you can chill while watching your friends play or while waiting for your turn.

Air-conditioned pickleball courts

Air conditioning and pickleball courts — name a more iconic duo. Most pickleball courts in Singapore are either exposed to the elements or are incredibly competitive to book if they are indoors. And of course, finding air-conditioned courts is even harder.

Thankfully, there are more options available now at TSA @ Jalan Kayu. There are 10 pickleball courts available for booking here. All of these courts are housed in one enclosed, air-conditioned hall, separated by mesh dividers.

This might be one of the most comfortable pickleball facilities we’ve seen, and the prices for bookings are pretty reasonable, too. Booking fees for the public start at S$25/hr for off-peak periods and S$35/hr at peak periods.

Table tennis academy

If you’re someone who prefers something even more fast-paced and close-up, head over to the Feng Tianwei International Table Tennis Academy (FTTA), located near the padel courts. Here, you can book a table starting at S$10/hr on weekdays and S$20/hr on weekends.

Want to take the sport seriously and even play professionally one day? You can sign up for courses with certified trainers and receive expert coaching. For more information on classes and training programmes, visit the FTTA website.

Other facilities 

If you still can’t get enough of racket sports, you’ll be happy to know that there are also badminton courts available for booking at TSA @ Jalan Kayu. But beyond the sports facilities, what makes this facility special is also a couple of other inviting spaces you can find here.

For those of you who want to recover after an intense game or a long day at work, consider visiting Bathhouse. You can choose to find rest in an ice bath, a sauna, or a magnesium salt pool. For all the pilates enthusiasts, you can also check out WEmbrace Pilates, a Reformer Pilates studio located right beside Bathhouse. 

Coming Soon to TSA @ Jalan Kayu

While the existing facilities at TSA @ Jalan Kayu already make it a great sports hub, it isn’t actually complete yet. During our visit, we noticed areas that were still temporarily closed off or undergoing construction.

This includes Sports Schooling, founded by Olympic gold medalist Joseph Schooling. When open, it will operate a Swim Lab for children ages 3 and above. Lessons will be conducted in a heated learner pool so that kids can progressively pick up swimming.

New futsal courts of different sizes will also be opened to the public soon, providing another space where football players can book for their friendly matches. A refurbished basketball court will also be open, adding another sport you can enjoy here.

Accessibility and special rates

If you’re visiting TSA @ Jalan Kayu, one of the best ways to travel there is via the Sengkang LRT network. Just make sure you are on the right loop that brings you to Thanggam LRT station, which is located right outside the sports facility.

For those of you looking to play pickleball, padel or badminton, you would have to download Playtomic from the App Store or Google Play and make your court bookings via the app.

If you are a resident of the Jalan Kayu SMC, make sure to drop by the Booking Office at TSA @ Jalan Kayu and get yourself verified. This will allow you to enjoy special discounted rates for most facility bookings, which can range from 10% to 20% off.

The Irish comics artist built a large social media following for his raw depictions of life through his dog and frog characters—whether it’s small interactions, quiet musings on a lazy afternoon, or simply appreciating the mundane moments. 

The exhibit invites viewers to appreciate life as it is, without the burden of proving their worth through productivity and accomplishments — a stark contrast to the Singaporean mindset. It reminds us to embrace the moments of lethargy and moody days, as it’s part and parcel of the human experience. 

The exhibition will take place at Heartware Store and Gallery, a cosy space tucked among the shophouses along Joo Chiat Road. Alongside the artworks, visitors can also look forward to exclusive merchandise and an artist talk by Niall Breen himself. Fans can even bring home a piece of the exhibition with woven throws featuring Niall Breen’s illustrations, available in two designs. However, stocks are limited, so move quickly if you want to snag one!

Furthermore, you can also glimpse into the creative mind of Niall Breen during the Artist Talk on 30 May 2026 from 3pm to 4pm. Flying in all the way from Ireland, this is a rare chance to hear directly from the artist himself. While registrations are already full, walk-ins are still welcome — though seats are limited and standing may be required.

If you’re looking for a slower, more reflective experience in Singapore’s fast-paced city life, Lazy Days with Dog & Frog offers a comforting reminder that its ok to just pause. With heartfelt artworks, exclusive collectables, and a rare artist appearance, this cosy Joo Chiat exhibition is one worth adding to your calendar before it ends on 26 July 2026.

Malaysia Boleh! Jurong Point has officially reopened after months of renovation, now sporting a refreshed look alongside all your favourite Malaysian street food under one roof. The revamped food court houses 32 stalls from across Malaysia, featuring flavours from Penang, Petaling Jaya, and beyond. If you’re unsure where to begin, we tried over 30 dishes and narrowed down some of our favourites.

Damansara Chilli Pan Mee

For something hearty and comforting, Damansara Chilli Pan Mee serves up a wide range of noodles packed with bold flavours. We tried both the classic Chilli Ban Mian (S$5.50 for small) and Handmade Shrimp meat with Tom Yam Pan Mian Soup (S$7.30). We especially love the latter, which features chewy noodles in a rich, spicy broth that is both tangy and aromatic with every sip. 

Their noodles are specially made from a combination of flours, giving them that springy bite while preventing them from turning mushy even after sitting in the broth for a while. The noodle is also topped with crispy ikan bilis, adding a layer of crunch and savoury depth to the dish, while the bouncy prawn paste brings out a burst of sweetness and texture that pairs perfectly with the aromatic tom yam flavour. Every spoonful is basically packed with contrasting textures and a well-balanced flavour profile, making this bowl an incredibly satisfying meal, especially on a rainy day.

Huang Chao Teochew Noodle House 

Known for their authentic Teochew-style noodle dishes, Huang Chao Teochew Noodle also serves up a comforting bowl of Laksa (S$5) that we really enjoyed. 

The broth was heavier on the coconut taste, giving it a fragrant creaminess with just the right amount of richness. It also helps mellow out the heat from the chilli, making the broth smooth and easy to drink.

Since Huang Chao Teochew Noodle House specialises in a range of fresh fish and signature seafood soup, the laksa broth carries a distinct seafood sweetness and briny depth that makes it stand out from the usual versions. The flavour feels richer and more layered, especially with the aromatic herbs and punchy chilli blend running through the soup.

It is also generously topped with ingredients like crispy fried taukee skin and tau pok, both of which soak up the flavourful broth — a burst of richness and texture through the bowl. 

Ipoh Lau Wang Chicken Rice

One look at this stall’s glistening display of chicken was enough to convince us it would be good — and true to its appearance, the steamed chicken rice (S$5.60) is definitely one of the better ones we tried. 

The steamed chicken is served with skin and bone in, which helps lock in moisture and keep the meat extra tender and juicy. It’s also generously coated with the delightfully fragrant sesame sauce, which elevated its flavour. Considering the reasonable price point, the portions also felt surprisingly generous. If you’re looking for a classic, well-made chicken rice, you should definitely give this a go.

Seremban Kee Mei Siew Pau 

Seremban Kee Mei Siew Pow is well-loved among Malaysians for its traditional handmade pastries packed with flavourful fillings. Its signature offerings include classic Pork (S$2.20) and Chicken Char Siew Paus (S$2.20), wrapped in a flaky, buttery crust that makes them dangerously addictive.

For its Singapore outlets, the brand also introduced a Singapore-exclusive Black Pepper Pork Siew Pau (S$2.40) — which, naturally, we had to try. Fair warning, though: if you can’t handle spice well, this may not be for you. The pastry was generously packed with a fiery black- pepper pork filling that had us reaching for our drinks after every bite. If you’re a fan of bold flavours and spices, then this will likely have you hooked.

Huats Kee 

If you’re craving something indulgent, greasy, and savoury, this KL Hokkien Mee (S$6.50) is one to make a beeline for. Unlike the lighter, soup-based Hokkien Mee commonly found in Singapore, this version features thick noodles braised in dark soy sauce, giving the dish its signature smoky wok hei flavour.

The thick yellow noodles were especially satisfying, with a springy, chewy texture that soaked up the sauce beautifully. Flavour-wise, the noodles carried a rich smoky char without being overwhelmingly salty. Despite its dark, glossy appearance, it wasn’t excessively greasy, which made it a pleasant, comfortable eat that didn’t leave us feeling sluggish or heavy.

KL Salted Chicken Rice • Congee

Unexpectedly, this unassuming chicken rice and congee store served up one of our absolute favourite dishes. While its congee was good, the must-try here is its Salted Chicken Rice/Noodle (S$7.50). 

The chicken drumstick was served drenched in a herbal broth, garnished with red dates. As we cut into it, the tender flesh fell apart, revealing a steamy, moist interior that thoroughly soaked up the flavourful sauce. The deeply aromatic chicken completely blew us away, with herbal notes that added just the right amount of depth and complexity to the dish. Paired with a side of rice or noodles to balance out the sauce, this was a dish we knew we would come back for.

Kuantan Nasi Lemak

From afar, you will be drawn in by Kuantan Nasi Lemak’s iconic banana leaf-lined display and trays with freshly fried goodness. We tried the Chicken Wing Nasi Lemak (S$5), and the star of the show is definitely the chicken wing. Fried to a deep golden-brown exterior, the batter shatters perfectly upon the first bite, giving way to a satisfying crunch. You will be immediately hit with aromatic spices and a juicy interior that makes the chicken dangerously addictive. 

The savoury saltiness of the chicken balances perfectly against the sambal, which we found to lean on the sweeter note, toning down the spicy heat.

Do not be deceived by the simple-looking plate — every element comes together in perfect harmony to create a comforting and deeply satisfying meal. The slightly fluffy coconut rice carries a fragrant pandan aroma, pairing nicely with the crispy ikan bilis and roasted peanuts.

Drinks

From their extensive selection of drinks, we tried the Fresh Balonglong with Sour Plum Juice (S$4.50), which turned out to be incredibly refreshing. The drink carries a bold flavour profile that blends the natural tartness and fruity sweetness of the balonglong, creating a punchy taste that instantly cools you down.

With added sour plums, it adds that extra layer of tanginess and a subtle salty finish, balancing out the sharpness of the balonglong while giving the drink an interesting depth. It is a perfect thirst-quenching drink to cut through the heaviness of the street food dishes.

This June, one of the world’s largest science fiction and fantasy collections is making its global debut right here in Singapore. The Portals Experience is different from other exhibitions in that it will focus mainly on physical displays, rather than digital ones. 

Whether you are a reader, gamer or movie fan — if you love the sci-fi and fantasy genres, you will feel right at home.

8 themed zones

At its core, the Portals Experience is a journey, and will bring you across eight different ‘realms’, featuring many recognisable works from the sci-fi and fantasy genres. And instead of looking at screens, you will be looking at physical, tangible pieces of artwork. 

This includes more than 300 original paintings from some of the world’s greatest creators and fictional universes. You will get to behold the brushstrokes that created epic sagas and beloved characters.

Beyond paintings, you will also get up close with around 10,000 hand-painted miniatures. This includes three dioramas, which will allow you to witness one of the world’s largest recreations of Atlantis, a sweeping fantasy battlefield, and a visionary sci-fi future. Fans of tabletop games will absolutely love this.

But you won’t just look at miniatures. As you walk from realm to realm, you will encounter larger-than-life installations and sets that were hand-crafted to fully immerse you. Spanning 13,000 square feet, this exhibition will take you around 60–90 minutes to explore.

Exclusive merchandise

To complete your journey and remember your adventure through the eight realms, you can also get a hold of rare prints, postcards, and other merchandise. Some of these are ultra-limited, up to 100 editions each, and signed by their respective artists. Make sure to visit early if you don’t want to miss these!

The Portals Experience will open its gates at Fever Exhibition Hall from 1 June 2026 to 2 September 2026. Standard admission tickets for adults cost S$26 on weekdays and S$30 on weekends, while children can enter for S$17 and S$20 respectively. Tickets for seniors are priced at S$22 and S$26.

Debut of new dishes

Even if you have visited Casa Vostra at their first two outlets at Raffles Place and Jem, you would wanna visit Tampines Mall for new dishes that are making their debut exclusively at this outlet. For a period, these dishes will only be available here before being introduced in the other locations.

New signature pizzas

Let’s take a look first at one of my favourite dishes — pizza. Pizzas at Casa Vostra are made in-house, with a signature pizza dough that is cold-fermented for 36 hours before being fired in high heat.

The Prosciutto e Nduja Pizza (S$24++) is one of the new highlights of the menu. Topped with prosciutto cotto (cooked ham), Calabrian chilli pepper sauce, fried sage and smoked provola — pizza lovers like me will get to enjoy a rich, layered profile.

If you prefer a ‘red pizza’ rather than a ‘white pizza’, you can also try the new Margherita Affumicata (S$19++).  

Expanded pasta selection

Prefer pasta? Consider the new Agnolotti al Branzino e Gamberi (S$27++), which is a dish filled with seafood flavours in the form of sea bass and Argentinian prawns with capers. 

The Raviolone con Ricotta, Spinaci e Tuorlo Morbido (S$23++), on the other hand, is filled with ricotta and spinach, as well as a rich sauce made from egg yolk, burnt butter and sage. To complete your meal, you can also opt for something sweet from a range of drinks and desserts available.  

If you’re a Tampines or East resident, drop by Casa Vostra for a casual Italian dining experience in the heartlands.

The name of the store is derived from the Chinese words “陌” and “迹”, which mean “first impressions” and “lingering”, respectively. It highlights the café’s philosophy of being a space where people can slow down, find stillness, and soak in their environment. 

The 2-storey store is furnished with wood-panelled floors, windows and furniture, giving it a calming, earthy appearance. One of its most unique features is the display of beautiful, hand-crafted ceramic pieces, which are available for purchase. Each piece is intentionally modelled to represent seasons and festivals within the Chinese calendar.

Menu

Their menu is just as interesting, featuring a range of speciality coffees and desserts that are made fresh each day. Some signature drinks include Salted Cocoa Latte(S$12.80), Black Sesame Vienna(S$12.80), Hojicha Vienna(S$11.80), and more. 

Meanwhile, dessert selections feature inventive creations like the Cotton Cheesecake (S$12.80), presented in cheesecloth, resembling freshly strained cheese. Another interesting creation is its Soy Milk Cheesecake (S$14.80), which is a must-get if you’re a regular soy milk drinker. 

The Matcha Strawberry Cheesecake (S$15.80) also deserves the spotlight for its clean aesthetic, with fresh strawberries lining the cross-section, covered with an airy matcha mousse.

And the best part — you can pick out your own ceramic cup or plate for your food. This small interactive touch goes a long way in making the experience feel more personal and intimate.

If you’re looking for a meaningful escape from the city bustle, MOZmoji陌迹 is a refreshing experience to try. From its handcrafted tableware to its unique bakes and speciality drinks, the space is designed with intentionality, inviting you to appreciate the art and atmosphere while you dine. If you frequent South Bridge Road, do consider dropping by for a quiet coffee break and a little moment of calm.
